Hello @berkesahin DiyarOzer

The issue you're experiencing likely arises from the DNS settings and how Kaspersky's split tunneling interacts with the DNS resolution for online games.

Here are some potential solutions and considerations:

1. Adjust DNS Settings in Split Tunnel Configuration

  • Split tunneling should ideally allow only selected apps (like Discord) to route through the VPN. However, when the VPN is active, it might still interfere with the system's default DNS settings.
  • Try configuring your online games to bypass the VPN explicitly if the split tunnel allows you to specify "exclude apps." This will allow the games to connect directly without going through the VPN's DNS.

2. Use a Dedicated DNS for Gaming Traffic

  • Switching to a DNS service more compatible with gaming can help. OpenDNS and Cloudflare's DNS (1.1.1.1) are both known for lower latency, which is beneficial for gaming.
  • Manually set your system’s network DNS settings to a preferred DNS (like Cloudflare or Google DNS) in the network adapter properties. Here’s how:
    1. Go to Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings.
    2. Right-click on your primary network connection, select Properties, then Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
    3. Choose Use the following DNS server addresses, and input 1.1.1.1 for primary and 1.0.0.1 for secondary (Cloudflare).

3. Verify Routing Rules in Kaspersky

  • Sometimes, Kaspersky's split tunneling can unintentionally affect other apps if DNS or certain ports overlap.
  • Ensure only the Discord app is selected for VPN routing. Try disabling any advanced rules or options in the VPN's split tunneling that might impact other connections.

4. Check Network Adapter Priority

  • VPNs often create virtual network adapters, and sometimes Windows routes DNS traffic through these virtual adapters, even if split tunneling is active.
  • Ensure your primary network adapter has priority over any VPN adapters. Go to Network Connections, press Alt, then select Advanced > Advanced Settings. Move your primary adapter above the VPN adapter to give it priority.

5. Clear DNS Cache

  • Cached DNS entries could cause conflict. You can reset the DNS cache by running the following command in Command Prompt as an administrator:
    ipconfig /flushdns

6. Test VPN Compatibility

  • If issues persist, test if the game connects when you temporarily disable the VPN entirely. This will help confirm whether it’s the VPN itself or a setting within it that's blocking the game's network connection.

If you try these steps and still have trouble, there might be a deeper compatibility issue between Kaspersky's VPN and the game servers, and send a Ticket Kaspersky Technical support for a split-tunneling-specific fix might be the best next step.

Thank you

I have the same problem. It is active for all internet and applications, not the application I tunnel through. I want the VPN to work only in the applications I specify.
