VLC Media Player - how safe is it ? [Closed]

Hello,

So back when i had Win 7 i would normally use VLC media player for movies and even music, but now i recently found an article that the more recent versions haven’t been so safe to use.

Here are a few links with the info.

https://www.techradar.com/news/vlc-player-has-critical-security-flaw

I recently installed Win 10 and normally back when i had Win 7 my choice for movies etc. was always VLC media player, but now i’m not so sure if i should install it.

Anyone have any ideas ?

Or is anyone using the latest version of VLC media player and not having any issues ?

The last i heard is that VideoLan fixed this security breach, anyway with Kaspersky you should be safe.

There was only a problem in a library and not in VLC itself.

Today there are no known security problems with VLC

Guys thx for your answers. Just one more question.

Is winamp (latest version) also safe to use ?

I normally always use VLC and winamp. I know VLC can also play mp3 and mp4 but just wanted to know if latest version of winamp (5.8 i think) is also safe to use. I don’t know if the latest version is an actual official version of winamp.

Sorry, I don’t use WinAmp and have no information about its security.

@Horst  Please see above, if something is wrong with WinAmp then Kaspersky will block it and protect you.
