I tried to install Kaspersky trial version after I saw strange behavior in my pc  and after checked my pc I found many files infected by "virus.win32.renamer.j"
* and my questions here:
-First  Is this kind of virus " Renamer"  is a real virus or just cracked file or malicious software as I saw many infected files is already ( keygen , crack or even patch) files.
- Second What is the effect for that kind of virus ( not all viruses at general)

Hi Amin, all I know is that renamer virus are normal files thats has a prefix like g on them.

They work like normal file while other files or .exe gets broken until reinstalled again.

Ex. This are just sample files, in some PC's they've got other letters in place

Non-infected files: chrome.exe, mpc.exe, brave.exe, nomacs.exe & cmd.exe

Infected files: gchrome.exe, gmpc.exe, gbrave.exe, gnomacs.exe & gcmd.exe

Ps. This renamer.virus is connected with Ground.exe files you may find hidden in your startup, roaming and C:/.

All files transformed with a changed letter on them while the original file is kept hidden this pretenders run on your rig instead.

Can be harmful because some apps will malfunction, while others very annoying. At least Kaspersky in trial mode does way better compared to Windows Defender.

So overall if your using Kaspersky to clean a so called "renamer.virus.j" either disinfect those files, or if not possible just delete, remove or uninstall them and reinstall a fresh copy. Then use Kaspersky to block incoming or future renamers.

Yes for I know, I was using the term of windefender sorry. But still the same effect no matter what name. A really annoying virus.
