Hi,

I am an US customer. I have been using Kaspersky over a decade now. My database does not update anymore, leaded me here and know that US is banned. So what now?

I understand there is a page for that, but that page does not provide much useful information other than explaining the situation. As much as I liked the app, I can't running my PC semi-naked with outdated database.

I am pretty sure it's not a last minute decision, so what's the update from the Kaspersky? My key still got more than 2 years left? If there is no plan, then where do we process the refund?

Hello @K0908

Welcome!

Kaspersky have been forced out of the US, it was not by choice; they've engaged another company to provide an alternative solution, the migration began 19th September, 2024 - Guide on Kaspersky software availability in the United States.

  1. Kaspersky @Vadim Nhas posted in topic: UltraAV software no notification, Automatically Installs, and Can't Remove it!! by Viper69

Thank you🙏

Hi Flood,

I just did some quick research on this UltraAV, I can't trust it. If Kaspersky is out of the queue, I am switching back to bitdefender as my backup plan.

Where can I process a partial refund? I am not using this garbage.

Or as far as I know, they are banning the US license right? So can I just get a Euro key instead? So I can get my damn database updated?

Hello @K0908

Thank you for posting back & the extra questions!

  1. The U.S. Department of Commerce prohibits Kaspersky from selling or updating certain antivirus products in the United States, the BAN was not to subscriber's Kaspersky licenses/subscriptions, your subscription is valid until it's expiry date.
  2. From all the topics & feedback we're read in the community since the migration, it appears as tho Kaspersky is not providing any refunds that do not meet their 30-day money-back guarantee - IF that's true - ioho - it's a very poor outcome for Kaspersky subscribers & a terrible way for Kaspersky to manage the collateral damage of the BAN.
  3. Regarding Database updates, there's a multitude of posts from users about circumventing the BAN, a generic US BAN search brings up 4 pages, there's tips in some of them (none of which we can recommend as - (a) we're not in the US, (b) we have not tested the solutions).

Thank you🙏

Ok. So a little update. I purchased my 3 years subscription on Amazon. (Amazon was the seller)

It was a little over a year ago. I just got 2/3 refund of the purchase. If you purchased it on Amazon, here are the steps:

You have to go thru hide the seek to find the link for "other supports" to chat with the associate. Explain that You purchased Kaspersky key on Amazon, now it's banned and you can't use it anymore. Provide the order number, if you did not use the key immeidately, provide how many days left on your subscription. Then they will probably go to their supervisor and then process your partial refund.

Same logic applies, for non-Kaspersky purchases, try to get a refund on their platform. A subscription key should be considered as warrenty period. If I can't use the full length of the warrenty, then I go to vendor, not the manufacture. Good luck guys

Also good luck to Kaspersky. I am not going to use your product again. Even you come back to America Market. This is ridiculous.

Just want to clearify, After forum master PMed me to update database using VPN, I tried a few, none of them worked, til I connected with Italy-Milan, it actually finished update.

So I guess you are able to continue use Kaspersky if your subscription was not removed from center.

Very good to know.
