The upgrade error “NativeResources.dll is locked” [Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Server]

Description

When upgrading KSE, the following error can occur: 

The CheckFilesLockActionStep action resulted in an error:
File C:\Program Files(x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Servers\NativeResources.dll is locked.

The installation log contains the following:

Exception: System.ApplicationException: File C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Servers\NativeResources.dll is locked.

Solution

This error means that somewhere (locally or remotely) Event Viewer is open and viewing events from this server. The best solution is to find where Event Viewer is open, close it and repeat the installation.

The second solution: you need to find the file from the error message in the specified folder, rename it and then move it to any other folder (for example, to the Desktop). Then repeat the upgrading or click the Retry button. After installing KSE, you can remove this file. A new one will already be in the installation folder.
