Some apps cannot be blocked?

Recommended Posts

On an Android device, some apps are showing up as being used…

However, this app/tool, doesn’t have the setting option, nor is it showing up on the list of apps to be controlled/restricted…

This is the case with more than one app… Showing usage… But not setting option available…

Why are some apps showing up as being used, but there is no ability to regulate their use?

Thank you for the prompt reply.

1: Samsung Galaxy A12, OS is Android 10.0

2: I am unsure how to see what version of KSK is on my child’s phone from my Windows device. However, it should be the most up-to-date version.

3: I am unsure what source my child used to install these programs from; I only received notice of their being installed today.

4: My child has most likely given himself Admin permission on the phone

5: KSK Premium (paid for).

Hello @AzBaobab,

You’re most welcome!

Thank you for posting back & the information!

  • To find KSK version, on (your) child’s android, open KSK, select About, the version number is shown directly beneath the words Kaspersky Safe Kids.

Golden rules:

  1. Settings, should be Forbidden, by default.
  2. Google Play Store, should be Forbidden, by default.
  3. Admin/Developer permission must not be granted, it allows for root access to the phone, apart from giving (your) child unlimited access, if you need technical support, they will request the Admin/Developer permission is revoked before working on any issue.
  • 💥We need a little time to check Smart security Fake GPS, we will update this topic.
  • ❓Do you have access to your child’s android, please let us know?

Thank you🙏,

Thank you again!

It appears the Kaspersky version is 21.3.10.391(h)

Settings has been set to Forbidden for a while.

I just changed Google Play Store to Forbidden.

Understood on Admin/Developer permission. I do not currently have access to the device, as the child has it as school.

However, I can get access later on today.

It sounds like admin/developer settings might have been used to remove KSK ability to control those apps?

Thank you again!

Hello @AzBaobab

You’re most welcome!

  • Re “Kaspersky version is 21.3.10.391(h)”, is for a Kaspersky anti-virus, on a Windows device, let’s not worry at the moment, we’re sure the KSK version is up to date.
  • Correct, if (your) child has “rooted” the phone, he/she may be able to circumvent Settings being Forbidden & certainly will be able to override KSK functionality….?
  1. May we know your child’s birth year please?
  • We’re looking into Smart security Fake GPS, will update shortly.

Thank you🙏,

Hello @AzBaobab,

Fake GPS requires root/Admin/Developer access to function, uninstall it immediately. It will compromise KSK. {Image one shows requirements; you’ve got a clever/determined kid}.

The fact Fake GPS & Smart security are not showing correctly in KSK, perhaps (your) child did not configure FG correctly, or, KSK & the MyK portal may have lost sync temporarily, however, (ioo) Fake GPS is a dangerous app. We're submitting it to Kaspersky to be blacklisted by default.

Smart security is a junk app and it's full of ads, otherwise harmless, there's better apps available.

Moving forward:

  • ⛔1. Uninstall Fake GPS, 2. revoke root/Admin/Developer access, 3. power OFF the android, 4. power ON android, 5. ask (your) child to log in, 6. check root/Admin/Developer access no longer exists, note, he should not be able to complete this check which is the goal.
  • In (your) parent MyKaspersky, KSK account, ensure the following Categories are Forbidden:
  1. Settings
  2. Google Play Store
  3. FTP software
  4. File Sharing
  5. Software downloaders
  6. Unknown
  • On your Windows computer, on the Windows taskbar or hidden icons, right click the KSK icon, select Settings, sign into the KSK application as parent, select Other, select Sync, make sure the Settings are Synced banner displays?

Monitor for any issues?

Any questions or problems, please post back?

Thank you🙏,
