Rescue Stick does not work [MOVED]

Hello, unfortunatley, Support (Live-Chat) could not help me, as they do not support Internet Security / Rescue Disk. I use Kaspersky Internet Security. Maybe you can help me, I have created a Rescue USB Stick, I can see the menu to choose between graphics Mode and a Limited graphics mode. Then, after I try to load the graphics (or) limited graphics, the system freeze. I have attached the output of the linux boot messages. As far as I know, rescue disk is based on Gentoo Linux, i can boot the Gentoo Live-CD / System without problems, as well as Ubuntu. But, i can't boot Debian except i use the nonfree-firmware Image. Is there a way to use a working Image with Kaspersky AV ? As example Gentoo (with all drivers) or Debian nonfree-firmware & Kaspersky? Mainboard: AsRock Z390 Pro4 Thank you! Dear Flood, Thank you for your reply. Yes, i have checked the How To and "What to do if" page. The problem is, the result is the same. What i mean: If i select Hardware Information, then the system freeze again, i do not see the Hardware Information via GUI, i cant even save the files, the last thing i see are the console messages (file attached in this reply). If i use the trace mode, it stops working (freeze) with the same message of my first posting (EDD information not available etc). I thing it's something with mainboard / intel driver cause i had the same problems with a Debian Boot Disk til i used the nonfree-firmware image. That was one of the reason why i changed to Kaspersky (cause Gentoo did work). Thank you for your time. Kind regards bern

Hello bern, Thank you for replying and the extra information. I've asked the Moderators to move your topic to Kaspersky Rescue Disk, for a better possibility of finding a solution. Also, is the process generating any logs, if "yes", upload to cloud and post the link or, if they're <25mb, upload to your post using the Upload icon, that way the folks with KRD expertise will have data to interrogate. There no further logs at the moment, all i have are the screens but i will provide all informations you need at request. I could provide a Hardware Information of "HW Info" or MSInfo if it helps. Hello bern, No need to apologise, it's not a problem. The reason to move this topic is, the people who have the most KRD knowledge will see the topic and hopefully have an answer to the issues. And now the Moderators have kindly moved the topic so, that's good. The (data) info have may help so, yes, please, upload whatever you can please? Unfortunately, I cannot solve the dilemma, I'm sorry, I don't know the answer. It may also help to provide some history, for example, the reason for using KRD? All the best:pray_tone3:.

1. I'm glad to hear DR isn't necessary. May I ask, do you have any AV software installed?
2. There's a few Community Members (I've seen reply to KRD posts) who are specialists, or at least know a heap more about KRD than I do, hopefully, they'll see your post & pitch in. I'll be looking to see as well, I'd like to know what the issue is:thinking:.

Hello Flood, Thanks for your reply. At the moment i have installed Kaspersky Internet Security (latest version), but no other AV Software. Two weeks ago i had G-Data Internet Security, and the same problem with Rescue Medium. Their Rescue Medium was based on Debian. I just found out, that i had to create a Debian nonfree-firmware Boot Image (USB) to get a working solution but without AV Software. The abo was running out, so it was a good possibility for me to change the Internet Security Software (to Kaspersky). I did checked the Gentoo Live-CD to be sure that KRD works but for any unkown reason, Gentoo Live-CD works but not KRD (base on Gentoo). Kind regards, bern

I used "Etcher" (with my virtual linux box) c.) And i tried it with WinUSB With the same result. Kind regards, bern

I see, the Image has a difference of about 1 MB (compared to the other image of https://support.kaspersky.com/de/14227?cid=KIS_20.0&utm_source=interceptor&utm_medium=product&utm_campaign=KIS_20.0 ).

 

Unfortunatley, the same problem happens again.

There is just a difference when the system freezes, this time it ends after AHCI.

I tried it aswell with the solutions above (Graphic Limited, Hardware Information etc)

yes (i did try it), but same result.

Do you know, has Kaspersky any Linux client files of Kaspersky AV ?

In this case i just would create a working boot image (Gentoo Live-CD) and i would just add the files manually to the image instead of userng the non working image (for me) of KRD.

i can boot the Gentoo Live-CD

 

Did you use fresh Gentoo live cd?

 

But, i can't boot Debian except i use the nonfree-firmware Image.

I thing it's something with mainboard / intel driver cause i had the same problems with a Debian Boot Disk til i used the nonfree-firmware image.

According to motherboard manual you can swicth some options for USB (page 84):

Please, try to change selected options and try to boot KRD.

I did try it with an old USB2 and a CD-RW.

I did use Hybrid ISO (https://bouncer.gentoo.org/fetch/gentoo-20160704-livedvd/amd64/)

LiveDVD but i created the image onto a USB Stick with Rufus.

Worked fine, and the strange thing is, looks like its a Version of 2016.

Means i did use the Live-DVD like an normal OS.

Yes, hangs on boot similar behavior just with a different error, there was just one line

“[2.332949] failed to find cpu0 device node”

No, 1 SSD, 1 HD but no Raid feature enabled.

 

The settings of the screenshots were default execpt the XHCI Handoff, i changed it but same error.

I also did try to change the Legacy Mode with the result that i had to reset the BIOS to default (cause he didn’t detect my Keyboard anymore).

Ok, thanks for testing! So, we know that the problem is in firmware, but we don’t know which one…

Please, create USB Flash drives with Gentoo and Debian with nonfree-firmware, boot it, open console terminal and enter following commands:

dmesg > ./dmesg.log
lsmod > ./lsmod.log
lspci -vvv > ./lspci.log
cat /proc/cpuinfo > ./cpuinfo.log
tar -cavf ./info.tar.gz ./dmesg.log ./lsmod.log ./lspci.log ./cpuinfo.log

and attach collected info.tar.gz archives to this topic. I’ll try to find that firmware.

I have attached the .tar.gz file (logs) of Debian nonfree-firmware Live Image.
I had to compress the tar.gz as zip, cause .tar.gz is a non supported file format by community upload.
