Quarantine 'Restore' option does not work. Files are deleted again

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Reproduction steps:

Restore files from Quarantine, then wait 10 seconds

Actual result:

Files are restored, but locked from access, then quickly deleted by Kaspersky again. Whether you try to access the files or not.

Expected Result:

Files should stay restored, and added to exclusions.

There should be an option to 'Restore and exclude' from the quarantine menu. That's the purpose of a 'restore' option. But in reality, it does nothing, as Kaspersky will immediately delete the files again. If you try to access them before they're deleted, the files are locked from access. So there is no way to restore them without grabbing the file name + path, and manually changing exclusion settings. THEN you may restore from quarantine.

Manually excluding each file is a slow, one-by-one process, and is not usable for multiple files being deleted. This should be the purpose of the 'Restore' button.

The files I'm restoring are labelled "not-a-virus", and I know they are safe. However, I don't want to exclude the entire folder from being scanned.

@Barib110 Welcome.

Please try this

Disable option : Settings > General > Perform recommended actions automatically
Kaspersky will ask you to decide which action to take on detected objects
Chose for “Quarantine”
Restore the  quarantined object
Create an exclusion rule for the object ⚠️
Enable option : Settings > General > Perform recommended actions automatically

Thank you, that's a more efficient workaround! The 'resolve issues' menu has the 'exclude' option right there for each file, instead of manually doing it.

Ideally, the quarantine would have a 'restore and exclude' option, but this works just fine too.

Sorry to reply to an older thread but I do not seem to have the Settings>General options. I'm a new user trying out Kaspersky free edition. Not sure if  the settings may be edition-specific?

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction to get this to work in the free version? Currently Kaspersky just keep deleting the file and does not allow me to exclude anywhere that I can find.

Hello @ES1, Welcome.

You can find the option in 'Kaspersky' in the menu 'Settings->Performance->PC Speed-Up'. Click on the cogwheel icon in the upper right corner.

Hello @Cart1, welcome.

The option has been moved to a more intuitive location:

'Settings->Security settings->Advanced settings->Exclusions and actions on object detection'.
