Potential Conflict Between Hue Sync and Kaspersky

Hi there,

I just migrated from Norton LifeLock to Kaspersky AV and it seems to be preventing Hue Sync connecting to the bridge.

I already reinstalled the app and tried to configure it in all exclusions I could find inside Kaspersky but behavior is erratic. Sometimes it connects to the bridge (but light control does not work).

Funny that while doing the initial setup, Hue Sync is able to find the bridge. But after that, most of the time it won't connect.

Kaspersky complained of invalid certificates. Although I click on it to allow the connection, things are still not working. I even tried to disable Kaspersky verification of encrypted traffic.

Any ideia on how to make it work again or any suggestions?

Android app is working. Also installed Hue Sync inside a VM, working too, so the problem is not Hue sync or the bridge.

Thanks in advance!

Kaspersky AV 21.2.16.590

Hue Sync 1.5.3.3

I have exactly the same issue with my new hue play lights. I even got an rma for the bridge, thinking there could be some issue with it after reading several posts. What was my surprise when I noticed the same issue with the new bridge. The first setup is perfectly done, but the next ones not. Hue sync keeps trying to connect to the bridge but it does not work.

First, I tried to disable kaspersky but it was unsuccessful, then i tried to dmz the bridge from my router config. Nothing worked. The only thing that worked was completely uninstalling kaspersky. Disabling it was not enough.

I have been using kaspersky products for a long time. I think this might change now if this issue does not get fixed soon.

Hello,

Hue Sync  is a software or based on internetbrowsers?

A Philips Hue bridge is a device that controls Philips Hue lights. Hue Sync is a software in the PC that enables you to control the lights (and sync colors from the PC with the lights - for example, if you watch a movie or listen to music, it will sync the lights in rythm).

It seems that the software communicates with the device through a REST API approach.

By looking at this URL:

Maybe I found the reason. It communicates at first trough plaintext HTML and switches to TLS after that.

Hello,

Sorry. I made a mistake. you use kav, not kis. So the only one to make a exclusion is

https://support.kaspersky.com/14866

Choose the application in C:\program files\…….\huesync.exe and set its exclusion rule.

Regards.

Hi there,

I excluded https://ip.address/* from URL protection and the bridge IP address from network protection. Problem is gone! Thank you.
