Opera and Opera GX lagging extremely after installing Kaspersky Premium.

Hi everybody!

This last month I've been suffering problems when browsing with Opera and Opera GX, I used Kasperky Total Security before and had zero problems, the problems started just when I installed Kaspersky Premium. It happens that many sites take a lot of time to load, particularly when browsing amazon, the front page can load fast, but whenever I do a search it can take more than half a minute or more.
It's been so annoying that I even started to use Google Chrome and recently tried to troubleshoot the problem. So after trying many possible solutions I finished uninstalling Kaskersky and the problems went away.

So my question is as follows, does anybody know any possible reason why Kaspersky can make that Opera and Opera GX (doesn't happen with Chrome or Firefox) lag so badly after installing Kaspersky Premium?

Thank you in advance.

Sorry that I forgot to tell you that I'm running Windows 10 22H2 (19045.5131), the version of Kaspersky is 21.19.7.527(b).

Hello @Sergi M

Welcome!

Unfortunately, no Opera browsers are supported, please read: Kaspersky for Windows, Hardware and software requirements, Browser support

Why Opera / Opera GX worked (on your system) with KTS & is now not working with Premium - is unknown, without analysing the system, which essentially can't be done in the Community, for a number of reasons, 1. Community guideline (to protect all users' security & privacy): no logs, data etc., can be submitted to this portal; 2. retrospective, the parameters/environment has changed, KTS has been replaced by Premium.

Ordinarily, for this type of issue; we'd recommend logging a request with Kaspersky Customer Service, however, as you've acknowledged, (a) Premium is working fine with the browsers Kaspersky does officially support & (b) based on that & the fact Opera & GX etc are not supported - (ioo) Kaspersky Customer Service will advise (you) to use the recommended browsers.

(You) could try not installing the Kaspersky Protection extension in the Opera/GX browser, sometimes people report lag issues that 'appear' to have been resolved when it's not installed.

IF Opera / Opera GX are run in private browsing mode, does the response time searching Amazon improve?

Thank you🙏

Hello Flood and Flood's wife and thank you for your help.

I've been using computers for some time and never ever knew that a browser had to be supported by a security application, I can understand that Kaspersky Premium doesn't have any extension for Opera browser, but other than that I understand that the browser should work fine with any security application.

Another thing is that Opera has not any Kaspersky extension installed, and have also tried to browse the Internet in private mode and everything was the same, nothing improved.

And thank you once gain for your time.

Sergi M.

Hello @Sergi M

You're most welcome!

Thank you for posting back!

  1. It would be remiss of us not to provide Kaspersky's documented requirements.
  2. The KPE & Private mode were simply suggestions, hoping to improve the response time searching Amazon.
  3. When Premium was installed was it a clean install OR on top of KTS? IF it was on top of - it should be done with a clean install.
  4. (You're) more than welcome to log a request with Kaspersky Customer Service, https://support.kaspersky.com/b2c#contacts  - select either Chat or Email, then fill in the template as shown; please include a *detailed history*; support may request logs, traces & other data, they will guide you.
  • *Also - IF using Chat - *before* ending the chat -> ask the operator to email (you) a copy of the chat transcript - otherwise (you'll) have no record of the chat*

Thank you very much Flood🐳+🐋 and sorry for taking long to answer back.

When I installed Kaskersky Premium, it was after uninstalling Kaspersky Total Security, so I understand that it was a clean install.
I'll do as you sugggests and will talk to Kaspersky Customer Service.

Thank you!
