Network path blocked, Cannot create file "\\servername\something\something.ini

Recommended Posts

After I installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus  some applications stopped working.

We have the application server and clients. When I run application from client-side there is an error message: Cannot create file "\\servername\something\something.ini

When I disable Kaspersky, everything works normally.

What should I do?

Thank you and best regards,

Janez

Hello @JanezJ,’

Welcome!

Please tell us:

  1. Devices operating system name, version & build?
  2. KAV version & patch(x)?
  3. Is KAV licensed?
  4. Is KAV logging the errors?
  5. Which applications have stopped working?
  6. May we have an image of the errors please?
  7. Also, the topic is in Kaspersky Home software category, is your Kaspersky software home/personal or commercial?

Please post back?

Thank you🙏

Hi Flood,

thank you for the quick answer.

  1.  There are different OSs- win 7 and win 10, build 1909. Same problem on both OS.
  2. Kaspersky anti-Virus 20.0.14.1085
  3. YES. We have a couple of licenses.
  4. NO
  5. It is a custom application. We have an application server, SQL database. We just copy shortcuts from app server to the client computer.
  6. Please see attached picture
  7. We bought licenses from the official dealer, but it seems that licenses are home edition.

Best regards!

 Hello @JanezJ ,

Thank you for the quick reply and the comprehensive information👏!

Regarding the licenses, that’s perfectly fine, from the topic detail, it sounded as if you may have been using Kaspersky commercial software, it’s good it’s licensed as Kaspersky free software has configuration limitations & no Technical Support, which would make this harder to solve, all good👌

Have you tried adding exclusions for the blocked network path🤔

Please let me know?

 Thank you🙏

Additionally: if the Community cannot solve this, it would be a good idea to request help from Kaspersky Technical Support, they will need GSI & Windows Logs, as more than one operating system is involved, run the GSI tool for both systems, & they may need Traces, they will guide you to collect these if needed.

After you submit the request, you’ll receive an automated email with an INC+12 digits reference #, then, normally, within 5 business days, a Kaspersky Lab human🕵 will contact you, also by email, you may continue to communicate with them via reply email & or by updating the INC in your MyKaspersky.com account.

Hello Flood.

I added exceptions but still doesn’t work.

As you can see, I added exceptions by IP and by hostname. I also exclude the whole network path to the folder of the apps on the server. I excluded separately shortcut….

Once I disable AV everything works perfectly.

Thank you!

Hello @JanezJ,

Thank you for the reply, the information and the image👌

Try adding File Anti-Virus exclusions, maybe with wildcards🤔 , otherwise, it would be a good idea to request help from Kaspersky Technical Support, they will need GSI & Windows Logs, as more than one operating system is involved, run the GSI tool for both systems, & they may need Traces, they will guide you to collect these if needed.

Hello @JanezJ

💡 Also try adding the exclusions with wild cards:

  “\\Win-... \whatever you’ve blanked out \ *. *”

Hello Flood.

Trusted applications did the trick. I added shortcuts to the list and now it works perfectly.
