Need of having an Apple device not specified

My child has an iPhone and i have an Android. Kaspersky Safe Kids sounded like a great option and the website + setup were so convincing we decided to pay for the subscription. After the payment, we were stunned to find out that the app was barely similar to the website one because apparently, for all the functions to work, I had to configurate something in the Apple ID settings. It was paid from my daughter's money and she felt pretty sad when she found out the app wasn't truly like what we saw earlier.

Hello @isabela8712

Welcome!

Please share with (your) daughter, no time for sadness, all is not lost!

  • The *parent* requirement is to have an Apple ID to *complete* the KSK setup in the kid's iOS device, even if the parent is using an Android device, creating an Apple ID can be done on (your) Android or even a Windows PC/Laptop or MAC, the device is not important as long as - at the end - you have an Apple ID.
  1. To create an Apple ID  - *on any device* -> go to: Create Your Apple Account - the form is self-explanatory, see image
    Spoiler

    image.thumb.jpeg.4d5482ec3f564ef79dcfc4a22fbf4d24.jpeg

Note: We UNCHECK Announcements & Apps, Music, TV, and More ->advertising overload otherwise -> personal choice...  & yes, Kaspersky's documentation on parental Apple ID requirements is hopeless, virtually non-existent -> terrible documentation (ioo).
  2. IF - after creating the Apple ID & configuring KSK for (your) daughter, there's still issues - follow the guide: How to set up Kaspersky Safe Kids using the Screen Time API after updating to version 1.87.0.XXX at the bottom of the Configure the app for your child page.
  3. After (you've) created the Apple ID , on the iOS device, login with the Apple ID  & complete steps 1 up to step 5 of Configure the app for your child - at step 5, (you) need to log into (your) MyKaspersky account with the email address (you) used to purchase the Kaspersky subscription, after logging into (your) MyKaspersky account - continue thru to step 13.

  4. *Important*, at the end of the successful configuration - make sure you log OUT of the parent Apple ID on the iOS device.

  5. ReadScreenTime API that Kaspersky's uses works fully for up to 13 years; if you set up a child at, for example, 9 years old then until 13 KSK it will not be possible to delete the child’s account in the family group will be considered a child. When he turns 13, he will begin to be considered a partial adult and will be able to leave the family group at any time if he wants + screentime will partially stop blocking what it blocked before the age of 13. If you add a child who is already > 13, then the restrictions won’t work there at all and the product by design will work in geolocation-only mode, as well as without screentime at all

  6. IF issues persist, please contact Kaspersky Customer Service: select Email, fill in the template as shown, please provide a *detailed* history:                                                                image.thumb.png.c25d7a9382d5b8f8ca3ad25b1ddca447.png

Please share the outcome, with the Community, when it's available?

*IMPORTANT* -> (your) daughter's Apple account - on her iOS - should NOT have any *parental* power/authority/functions whatsoever - that account should be limited to CHILD ONLY!!*

*CRITICAL* -> the MyKaspersky account / email address that controls KSK must be accessed by parent *only*, (your) daughter should have *no* access to this email & OR to the associated MyKaspersky account*

Thank you🙏

Thank you so much! I have a question, though. My daughter is freshly 13 and i would like to know if from the 13-18yo mode I can time limit certain apps if that's needed. Is that possible or do we downgrade to the next age mode?

Hello @isabela8712

You're so very welcome!

  • LOL, most people do!
  1. Unfortunately, with KSK & iOS, no -> Specific settings for applications regardless of their category - is not available for iOS
  2. To use the Age-restriction template at a lower age *may* work, but - not across the board, IF the Age-rating for a app has been configured incorrectly (by Kaspersky), then your daughter may have access that's not desired; getting Kaspersky to fix these is woeful; it takes years - in our experience, they fight hard to not deal with the issue; it's exhausting - an example: application - Wiradjuri (language) taught from birth to all - is rated: 18+ Educational software, conversely - many apps are rated 0+ -> no matter what the Age template is configured to - Age 0+ is open-slather for children.

Age restrictions
To determine whether the child can start the application, Kaspersky Safe Kids can use public age-appropriate ratings

Block apps by age restrictions
For example, if a child is 8, and an application rating is 9+, then the child will not be able to start the application.

  • IF (you) wish, post back a list of apps - we'll check the ratings as best we can & give some information.

Thank you🙏

Hello @isabela8712

Thank you for posting back & the additional information. That's different again.

  1. Unfortunately, limiting screen time of apps using KSK App monitoring is not available for iOS devices.

Thank you🙏

Hello @isabela8712

You're most welcome!

Thank you for posting back & the additional question!

It's best to forget about limiting apps as that cannot be done with KSK but yes, the whole phone can be time limited -> please read: KSK for iOS, About device use monitoring, also, in (your) MyKaspersky account, select the Kids tab, then select Device use, from there select the Monitoring type: Statistics only, Show warnings to child, Block device, then select Schedule: configure Daily limit - Set a daily limit for the device use & OR Downtime, Add specific intervals to limit the device use.

  • Weekdays
  • Weekend
  • Sunday
  • Monday
  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday
  • Friday
  • Saturday

*Configuring - Apps available on blocked device feature - is not available on iOS*

Thank you🙏
