Microsoft error 0x800f0831

I have been suffering with this error for a very long time.

I can no longer run windows update due the error code 0x800f0831.

I have ran a deep scan 3 times each lasting for 3 hrs plus and I still cannot get it to work, the error is really dug in.  A company called Restoro.com looked and said there is a something imbedded but they did not locate it, does anyone know why Kaspersky cannot find it please

usually it is Microsoft's own fault

maybe you should google the error code to find a solution.

 

you can just try below method to reset windows update：

open CMD using administrator privilege than execute following command one by one:

 

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc

net stop bits

net stop msiserver

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

 

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver

 

After that reboot your OS and try update again
