Locking Windows user causes Kaspersky to spike in CPU usage

Hi,

For a few weeks now, I've noticed that Kaspersky's background process "avp.exe" will spike in CPU usage while the Windows User is locked. This means that after two minutes of the computer being locked, the built-in fans begin revving up and become abnormally loud. When I quickly log back in and check the Resource Manager - sure enough - the Kaspersky background process is responsible.

Is this behavior normal? And if so - can this behavior be modified such that the process won't spike in CPU usage while the user account is locked? Thanks for your time.

Do You have up to date W11 via Windows Update? Check also Optional updates.

Check this setting is enabled:

You can disable also this one and re-check:

Hi Harlan,

Thanks for your speedy replies. Currently I have the following settings enabled in the "PC Performance optimization" section:

As for the second picture, I'm not sure where those settings can be found. Could you direct me to them? Cheers.

In the main K. GUI window, go to:

And click in the small arrow facing right, there You can find it.

Turning off background scans seems to have solved this issue. Thanks again for your help.
