Kaspersky Rescue Disk, install additional software

Hello,

I would like to install either Zulucrypt or Veracrypt on Rescue Disk live session in order to scan an encrypted disk for malware. I’ve tried a few veracrypt .deb packages with dpkg -i terminal command so far without much success.

Is it possible? I’m not a linux geek. Surely it should be possible with Kaspersky running Ubuntu.

Hi,

VeraCrypt works correctly on Kaspersky Rescue Disk, you just need to download and install VeraCrypt generic installer for Linux 32-bit and it will run without issue.

First, open Terminal Emulator and then type the following commands:

  • Download VeraCrypt:
    wget https://launchpad.net/veracrypt/trunk/1.24-update7/+download/veracrypt-1.24-Update7-setup.tar.bz2

  • Decompress downloaded archive:
    tar xvfz veracrypt-1.24-Update7-setup.tar.bz2

  • Install 32-bit version of VeraCrypt:
    ./veracrypt-1.24-Update7-setup-gui-x86

  • Launch VeraCrypt:
    veracrypt

After this, VeraCrypt main window will appear and you can mount your volumes as usual. The only limitation is that double-clicking on mounted volume entry in VeraCrypt doesn’t open File Manager automatically and so you will need to manually navigate to /mnt/veracryptX mount point.

I hope this will help.
