Kaspersky Plus Installer

Hi everyone,

 

I have a small question regarding the Kaspersky Plus installer. I have purchased a subscription and downloaded the installer through my account. From what I see, it created a personalized installer through my account. Because of paranoia I have ran the file through Virustotal before installing it on my PC. Nothing came up on virustotal, so no problems there.

 

My question is, since virustotal does a behavioural analysis through multiple sandboxes, it must have ran the exe in those sandboxes as well. Is this cause for concern since the personalized installer, which logs me in automatically to my account after the installation, has been ran in those sandboxes?

Welcome. 

So you put kaspersky installer on virustotal? If you dont trust antivirus, then dont trust Windows and also should be best for you unplug internet cable and use pc without internet. Because if you use internet there is always risk :)

You are right. Its not that I do not trust the antivirus, I purchased it because I trust it. Its more that I dont trust myself to not do dumb things and download something that might look like the genuine av installer but is infact something else.

Also, I don't think VT sandboxes run and perform a full installation of any installer 🤔

Also, to use Kaspersky Plus, it must be signed into, from the Kaspersky Plus *application* to (your) MyKaspersky account, don't be nervous about doing an incorrect step(s), just read the documentation:  If you purchased a subscription from Kaspersky website.

Thank you. In MyKaspersky account, under My devices, I am only seeing 1 machine, which is my current desktop. 

 

I know I did something dumb as nexon pointed out, I just wanted to be sure that it was still ok because the installer automatically logs in to my account without asking for a password after the installation is done.

*The *install* process involves the application signing into the MyKaspersky account, that's normal* - as the documentation says: "When the installation is successfully completed, the application will automatically connect to your account and be activated according to the subscription you have purchased."

1. Is Two Factor Authentication active on (your) MyKaspersky account? 
2. After the *full* install of Kaspersky Plus, was there a prompt to *reboot* the computer & was the computer *rebooted*? 

Please advise?

Yes, the two factor authentication is active on my account. After the full install, there wasnt a prompt to reboot, I did a scan and then rebootet the computer myself.
