Kaspersky limits tab connections in web browser

If you open more than 100 tabs of the same website (domain) the subsequent tabs will not load.

I suspect the firewall has a 100 simultaneous connection limit. How do I change this?

If I pause protection the tabs will load normally again.

Thanks in advance!

Hello @CodingChipmunk

Welcome!

  1. Possibly Mozilla conserving resources, in Mozilla, about:config, does changing browser.tabs.maxOpenBeforeWarn to 100> make a difference?
  2. Log a request with Kaspersky Customer Service  - https://support.kaspersky.com/b2c#contacts, on the support page, select either Email or Chat, then fill in the template as shown; include a *detailed history*, include screen-prints & OR video IF they show the issue:
  • *Also* -> IF using Chat - ask the operator to email (you) a copy of the chat transcript *before* ending the chat - otherwise (you'll) have no record of the chat*

Thanks for the reply! I tried changing the value to 100. No luck.

How to reproduce:

1. Open Firefox

2. Go to any website, e.g. GettyImages and open 100+ tabs ("Open Link in New Tab").

3. At some point tabs will stop loading and display blank pages. Disabling Kaspersky instantly fixes this problem.

I will submit a ticket to Kaspersky Customer Service.

Hello @CodingChipmunk

You're most welcome!

Thank you for posting back!

  1. We did test the issue before posting our reply; we cannot replicate the issue.
  2. The value needs to be greater than 100 - altho - having said that we doubt it will make a difference.

Strange. This isn't the first time I encounter this issue and I'm starting to think it depends on the website. Some sites stop loading after 40 tabs others after 100. I will experiment some more and return to you.

Hello again!

How many tabs can be opened depends on the website. Some stop loading after 30-40 while others after 100+ tabs.

I don't know why the issue cannot be replicated, so I recorded a video, this time by opening random Reddit threads. Disabling Kaspersky fixes the problem.

Tabs.mp4 (Kaspersky dosn't allow .mp4 uploads):

https: // file . io/WanexJXwy9SU

https: // www . mediafire . com/file/24vxbi7de3jfx40/Tabs.mp4/file (mirror)

---

Update:

After some more experimenting I have a new hypothesis. "Anti-Banner" feature might have something to do with it. I also have Private Browsing feature on, if that's of any help.

Flood, have you tried replicating with Anti-Banner enabled?

Hello @CodingChipmunk,

Thank you for posting update!

Yes, it's a standard in all of our tests; we were unable to replicate the issue; had we had a different result or found any elements that raised questions we would've documented those in the topic.
