I want the ability to temporarily disable SMS on my child's Android 11 or 12 phone.

If a kid misuses the texting function, I want to be able to turn it off for a while, but still they have a telephone and I have the locator capability.

How to disable SMS?

Thanks.

Hello @Dave2

Welcome!

  • In (your) MyKaspersky account, select the KIDS tab, select App monitoring, select & change Messages to Forbidden, select Save.
  • ?Note, for the child's safety & security, the ability to make & receive phone calls cannot be disabled?

Thank you?

Thanks for the reply.

Before I created this post, I tried Kids > Applications > App Monitoring > Messages = Forbidden > Save.

It did not work. I was still able to send and receive texts on her phone.

Then, the next day, the block began to work correctly after I rebooted her phone.

So: either there was a lag-time before the settings change took effect, or a phone reboot was necessary for it to take effect.

Thanks.

Hello @Dave2

You're most welcome!

Yes, there could be a lag that's peculiar to (her/his) phone, or the network or ............ a multitude of other things?, but, not KSK, we created the test results, in our first reply, as soon as we read your topic, the Messages app block happened immediately - in realtime, no phone reboot required - if either were true, they would've been documented.

Thank you?
