Functionality of Kaspersky Kids

Kaspersky Kids is comparable with K9 or Qustodio?

I am previously using K9 but application is outdated. Now I am using Qustodio but have problems: slow down connections, can’t uninstall - application not shows on application list etc.

I have read that not works with browse private windows, it is true?

Hello @AndrzejB,

Thank you for replying.

  • I always recommend installing the trial premium software, test it for the trial period and make an informed choice.
  • Windows also includes Parental Control, which can be used in combination with KSK.
  • It’s very important to prepare your devices before installing KSK.

Reference documents:

Windows KSK Library 1 & Windows KSK Library 2

Thank you.

I also came over from K9.  I’m still evaluating.  One problem I’m having is that Kaspersky Safe Kids is not enforcing SafeSearch on Google Images using the Chrome browser.  This allows explicit images through.  It does seem to enforce SafeSearch in the Firefox browser.

Windows 10 Pro (1809).  Kaspersky Safe Kids 1.0.5.4638 (c)

Hello @magreen,

Welcome!

Please  tell me:

  1. Childs age?
  2. Win10 - what Windows profile is configured for your child?
  3. Please PM me some image “search”criteria, that’s failing in Chrome? (don’t add to your post in case the  information is too “extreme”).
  4. From (your MyKaspersky online account), download KSK 7day Summary Report, save as a .csv file, upload to cloud & PM the link please?

Thank you

  1.  The child’s age is configured as 2 years old.
  2. I’m not sure if you want my login name but I don’t see why it would be necessary.
  3. I’ve pasted a clean picture in here that illustrates this straightforward problem.  As you can see from the part circled in red, there is no check mark next to “Filter explicit results.”  The user is free to toggle this setting, and when it is not set, explicit images are allowed through.

P.S. This is with Chrome Version 78.0.3904.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hello @magreen,

Thank you for posting back, the additional information & the “clean” image👏

Login name, correct, absolutely no need to post that!

Google Chrome: Filter explicit results using SafeSearch is not controlled or managed by KSK, that particular feature, including turning it on and off, is managed exclusively by Google.

Google’s documentation provides guidance to: Lock SafeSearch settings for devices & networks you manage. If you want to guarantee SafeSearch results on  devices you manage, like your PC, you can map google domains to forcesafesearch.google.com. Learn how to keep SafeSearch turned on for devices you manage.

Or, if you find Mozilla Firefox manages their SafeSearch filters browser more effectively, using KSK, block GoogleChrome browser and Google Apps that redirect to Google browsers, for example: “Hey Google”, so the only browser available for your child is Mozilla FireFox.

Or, for your child’s Windows account, remove Google Chrome browser and all Google Chrome apps that redirect to Google Chrome browsers.

One other “tip”, I combine Windows (inbuilt) Parental Control tools with KSK to manage our kids.

Best regards🙏

Ok thank you for that link to Google’s discussion of SafeSearch!  That was quite helpful information about forcesafesearch.google.com, and I then found instructions to enforce SafeSearch at the network level using my dd-wrt router.

Any others interested, here are the dd-wrt instructions: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1060728 (3rd post, by wavracer).  They worked well for me.
