Hi, thank you. Both computers are running win 11. One is my wife's laptop which is connected through wifi. Mine is a freshly built desktop running both wifi and Ethernet. My old computer was running win 10 and there were no problems.

On my computer I can see the laptop on the network and can access  the files of a shared folder. On the laptop I can see the desktop but cant access anything that is shared. We have Kaspersky Plus v21.18.5.438 running on both.

I have been over it a million times I even did a fresh install of windows on the desktop to no avail. I have watched so many videos on the subject but I still can't understand why my desktop is inaccessible

Hello @Trevb54

You're most welcome!

Thank you for the information & clarifications!

  1. Is this accurate -> all files / folders on the Desktop, are inaccessible via the Network share when access is attempted from the Laptop?
  2. IF Kaspersky is EXITED, do the files / folders become accessible, via the Network share, from the LT to the DT?
  3. In the LT Firewall, Network properties, what is the setting for the WIFI Network Type?
  4. & the *same* question for the Desktop, for WIFI?
  5. IF the Network type is changed to Trusted - are the files accessible?
  6. In the Laptop, Kaspersky Reports & OR Windows Events - are there any events that show the issue? IF 'yes', post a *full-screen-screen-print* of the alert - make sure to *include* the *Details* section from the lower portion of the Kaspersky Report window please?
  7. in the Firewall are local UDP and TCP services *allowed*?
  8. On either computer - is Privacy, Security Settings, Network Settings: Limit traffic on metered connections *enabled*?
  9. In the Registry, what is the Disconnect value set at -> Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters                  image.thumb.png.a62deb159c913283e9c4dca29459d0bd.png

I realize you that have access to your LAN and that your DHCP settings are correct ,
i assume you also disabled this Kaspersky option ?
