Endpoint Security 11 for Windows

As much as I like Kaspersky products I find the support pages to be a little...confusing. 

 

I have Server 2016 and I’m using Security Center 10.x for Windows Server.  The version I have installed is 10.1.2.996.  When I submitted a ticket last week there were newer versions shown...that I can’t find. I also see under this page https://support.kaspersky.com/corporate  that I can install Endpoint Security 11 for Windows ...on servers?

 

So - what versions can I have on Servers and where do I find them?

Hello @jetb2,

I think you got a little confused about Corporate products :) Let me explain..

1. security products
   1. Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows (KES) 
   2. Kaspersky Security for Windows Servers (KSWS)
   3. Kaspersky Security for Virtualization (KSV)
   4. and many other..
2. central management console = Kaspersky Security Center (KSC)

KES can be installed on personal Windows but also on server versions. You can see which components are available on servers here. The decision whether you install KES on Windows server is yours to make, there are PROS/CONS like always :)

 

If you want to create ticket in Company Account:

Kaspersky Company Account

Make sure you select the proper categories - for KSC you should go this way:

KSC new request​​​​

for KSWS product you should select this:

KSWS new request

Thank you - that was very helpful.  My real issue is getting the proper updates for these. I go to (what I believe) is the right support page and it doesn’t show that there’s an update.

 

I usually go to the corporate page (listed above) and it shows this version

Latest Version:  10.1.2.996   I found this link off our corporate page  

 

And when I click the Security 11 or 10 for windows (server protection)  I get to this page

 

 

Which I can’t find a direct link to _anywhere_ else on a support page. So….not confusing at all.

Well, you are mixing two products together I’m afraid.

 

KSWS (dedicated security product for Windows Servers) has the latest version 10.1.2.996

KES (both personal/server) is in latest version 11.4.0.233

 

You can’t upgrade from KSWS to KES, these are different products, ok?

It is recommended to use KS4WS with Windows Server OS, so …

Yes - but I was looking for an explanation why I should use an older version of the Server client when a newer version that’s apparently meant for the server can be used.  If you have a newer explanation I’m all ears. (no really I have big ears) :-)

You are right: there is no more current comparison.

The main arguments for KS4WS are:

• support of all server roles and editions https://support.kaspersky.com/ksws10#requirements.block0
• no restart required for installation, upgrade and uninstallation
• Anti-Cryptor
• Application Startup Control, Device Control, Web Anti-Virus, Mail Threat Protection, Web Control (depending on the license https://support.kaspersky.com/12784 ),
