Does kaspersky security network worth it.

Hey everyone,

The security network is not a VPN, it is a special security network which allows users to get: additional protection level; applications reputation data; websites reputation data; quick reaction on new threats

They do however include a program called Kaspersky secure connection with internet security and total security versions but its run by a sketchy third party (top of my head I think it’s hotspot shield)

Hello  @Jimbaker.

Welcome!

KSN & KSC-VPN are two different things entirely & serve totally different purposes.

Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) is the cloud-based knowledge base of Kaspersky containing information about categories of Wi-Fi networks. When a Kaspersky application detects an insecure Wi-Fi network, users participating in Kaspersky Security Network automatically send this data to Kaspersky. Kaspersky experts analyze the received data and use it for more precise categorization of Wi-Fi networks. This helps make Kaspersky Secure Connection more effective.

Secure Connection allows users to connect to the Internet safely by encrypting all data sent and received through the network. It is available as a standalone solution for Windows, Mac, and Android devices, and also as a part of Kaspersky Lab's flagship security solutions for home users, where it is automatically installed.

Technology used in the application
The solution combines Kaspersky Lab's in-house development with open-source Virtual Private Network technology. Servers encrypting and redirecting user traffic are located in different countries around the world, including the USA, Germany, Singapore and many others. They are provided by our partner, the software company AnchorFree, using their Hotspot Shield technology. By default, user traffic goes through the quickest virtual server available at the time, which could be located in another country. Premium users can choose a server in any of the supported countries.

Thank you
