Chrome does not restrict sites set by safe kids

Hello,

I have Windows along with safe kids (free account, I am trying it). I set specific restrictions for youtube.com but Chrome browser does not show the traffic light and shows the site normally.

Other browsers Edge, Firefox and Opera show the restriction red light normally.

I had to restrict the application Chrome completely to restrict access.

Why this happens?

Thank you

Hello @cghera,

Welcome!

  1. May we know your child’s birth year please?
  2. Is YouTube Safe search on
  3. May we know the “ specific restrictions for youtube.com” you’ve set please → post a full screen print please?
  4. Post an full screen image of Youtube accessed in the Firefox browser, when you see the red light please?
  5. To help us test, in YouTube, what is searched for, that should be blocked/forbidden → please tell us some examples?
  6. Note: Opera is not supported, it’s a restricted application and should be blocked by default.

Please post back?

Thank you🙏

Hello @cghera,

Welcome!

  1. May we know your child’s birth year please?
2005 but I can change that if needed
  2. Is YouTube Safe search on
    YES
  3. May we know the “ specific restrictions for youtube.com” you’ve set please → post a full screen print please?

  4. Post an full screen image of Youtube accessed in the Firefox browser, when you see the red light please?
I will come back with this screenshot because I am not in front of the kid pc right now. However in Firefox, Edge and Opera you just get the message that youtube is not allowed (red traffic light) and the button ask for permission. In Chrome youtube just opens normally as if there is no restriction.
  5. To help us test, in YouTube, what is searched for, that should be blocked/forbidden → please tell us some examples?
    searched: main page of www.youtube.com
I want nothing on youtube.com to be accessed.
  6. Note: Opera is not supported, it’s a restricted application and should be blocked by default.
Pretty strange then that opera is showing the red light but chrome gives full access.

Please post back?

Thank you🙏

Hello @cghera
Thank you for posting back & the information👌

  • ❓ Is the Spotify block working?

We’ve tested, with child profile, born, 2005, the Chrome/Youtube issue thoroughly, YouTube app, from the Google apps menu & YouTube via a Google search →  both block immediately.

Three Opera browsers are blocked by default, this is as per design from the KSK developers, a child should not be able to start the Opera browser, unless a specific Allow permission has been applied (by parent).

The 4th Opera browser is an issue, not automatically blocked, problem has been with Kaspersky experts since October 2019

Because you’re reporting two things not working as per design, our recommendations are:

  1. Check System requirements
  2. Confirm your child has standard Windows account?
  3. Close all applications.
  4. Uninstall KSK, at the completion of the uninstall, make sure to Reboot the computer.
  5. Login as parent.
  6. Download new KSK installer & install
  7. At the completion of the install, shutdown the computer using Shutdown, not Restart, power on, login.
  8. Configure KSK for your child.
  9. Recheck Chrome/Youtube issue & check Opera is blocked by default?

Please let us know the outcome?

Thank you🙏

KSK version & Chrome version

2005 age template, KSK default settings & Youtube domain & specific URL block

Youtube accessed by app

Result = KSK block

YouTube accessed via search
Result = KSK block

KSK Youtube Report

Opera,

KSK blocks 3 Opera browsers by default.

What child should see when they try to use Opera.

System requirements are met. I will only check the Chrome version. Child has a standard non-admin account.

If the “new” KSK installer refers to a version less than 1 week old I will reinstall, because I installed it last week.
