Can the child see the time left?

Hi,

Can kids see how much of the total daily limit is used?

Hi  @Karen74,

On Anrdoid, if the Device Use is set to Block, at the allocated time expiry, the child will see a Notifcation screen with TIME FOR A BREAK, CLOSE, this cannot be overridden unless the parent grants more time, by adjusting the Device Use time settings

If the Device Use is set to Warn, at the allocated time expiry, the child will see a Notifcation screen with TIME FOR A BREAK, I WANT MORE, by pressing I WANT MORE, the child is granted full access to the device, without any parent intervention

Unlike Windows, there is no Device Time - allocated, and remaining time, information available to the Child.

Also, unlike Windows, where, if the Parent/Child wish for the Child to have extra time / device use, the Parent is the person who makes the decision.

On Android, Kaspersky have deemed, it’s “by design”, it’s not necessary to involve the Parent in these decisions, beyond the initial  Device Time configuration.

Discussions with Kaspersky developers have proved useless, their suggestion, on Android, “don’t use the Warn feature”.

🤔😱

Thank you.

This feature is really missing in Kaspersky Safe Kids: that child can see remaining time and use device accordingly. It can not be a big deal to implement it. If time is ticking in the device, it should be easy to check this time.

Hello  @dcubrakovic

Welcome!

I agree, especially as the “feature” is already available if the child is using a Windows device.

The issue has previously been logged with the Kaspersky developers.

Unfortunately the KSK developers do not make changes quicky.

I will certainly update everyone here when there’s any news.

Thank you🙏

Hello There, is there any development on this feature? Is there any way kids can see their time remaining?

Best Regards

Hello @PMVRebelo

Welcome!

  • Remaining time has been implemented for Windows → example image 2, not for Android.

Ensure the latest KSK version & patch is installed

Thank you🙏

Any news for Android devices and tracking time for kids?

Hello @Parent99

Welcome!

On a child’s android device, the same KSK push notifications are received:

  • 5 minutes
  • 2 minutes
  • Time’s up

Thank you🙏

Sorry, I should have been more specific. If a child has a budget of 2 hours per day for their phone are they able to track their time from 2 hours down to 0. So, for instance, when they see at mid-day they have used an hour they can decide to stay off the phone for the rest of the day because they want to play a game on the phone after 6pm before they go to bed. Or, like the screen shots above, does it just tell the child that they have 5, 2, and 0 minutes left? Under this scenario, the child isn’t going to be able to budget their time properly. My daughter said that Norton had this feature and she enjoyed it before I switched over to Kaspersky, which doesn’t seem to have the feature. A timer that you can track doesn’t seem like a difficult thing to add.

Hello @Parent99

Agreed, a timer/planner/schedule is simple to add, especially as it already exists for any child using Windows.

Sadly, no such feature is available for KSK android.

The only (KSK android) time information, available, is as we’ve shown in the images in our previous reply, and, if your child were to open the KSK app & select Current settings, she’d see Device use time is limited

  • Android
  • Windows

Ever so helpful for children, using android devices, who wish to to learn & use effective time management?

🙄

Thank you🙏
