Can not Bypass VPN for local domain connections when Outlook 2007 is syncing or connecting with Exchange Server

When using VPN and regardless of the VPN server being used, Microsoft Outlook 2007 becomes very slow when accessing Exchange server in local domain xxxxxxxxxxxx.local.
Tried to use Split Channeling without success.
Since there is 128 bit encryption Between Outlook 2007 and Exchange is not used outside the local network, is it possible to stop accessing the local Exchange server without using VPN (and Internet)? I have also seen that when Split Channeling is activated some other apps that run in the background for syncing purposes, stop syncing.
Any ideas as per accessing the local domain exchange server without using VPN? And why activation of Split Channeling and addition of apps in the exclusion list prevents them from functioning properly?

I have resolved the issue, by adding to the hosts file the server address and complete Server Name that Outlook should look for connecting with Exchange as it is referred to in the Exchange e-mail account and now it needs just a few seconds in order to Log In Connect and start Syncing.

This is for anyone that might need assistance.

Thanks for your time sir...
