Blocking a domain in the firewall

Hello,

I would like to use Kaspersky's firewall to block an entire domain. I think that is the correct way to put it, but in case I am wrong, an example:

Let's say I want to block any URL that contains google.io, so in my mind I would use a syntax like *google.io* but that is not allowed in the firewall. Sometimes the actual address might be abcde.xk556.google.io. Or sometimes just qwerty.google.io. I want to just block them all that contain this root.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Hello @t0yz

Welcome!

Use Firewall Packet Rules, follow the guide: Firewall, Packet rules - example image 1, *after adding the new rule, make sure it's positioned at the *top* of the rules table -> image 2; the result is image 3:

Hello, thanks for the answer.

It's what I tried too, but for some reason, it's not working for me. I tried this with yandex.ru. And I can still open the address. Rule looks like this. Also made it to log, but events are not logged.

Rule is ar the top, active.

Maybe I am doing something wrong.

Well I am at a loss. Need to do a bit more digging later to understand why the blocking does not occur. copied your template in full. In fact, the reason I posted was because I was already doing it but no blocking would occur. Which is quite weird. The app works flawlessly otherwise. It can most certainly block apps, or the entire traffic. But this URL blocking won't happen for me.

Will be a back in a few hours! Thanks again.

EDIT:

I exited/relaunched the app and

OK, I guess the rules would not take effect on the spot for some reason here. All good. Unsure if it's intended behavior? Shouldn't it take effect after I Save the rule?

Hello @t0yz

You're most welcome!

  1. *Reset browser(s) to default*
  2. Exit all browsers.
  3. Export Kaspersky Settings, read: How to export settings
  4. Reset Kaspersky to default, read: How to restore the default settings of the application. *Don't import settings at this stage*
  5. Shutdown the computer using SHUTDOWN, not Restart, power ON by pressing the power button, login.
  6. Open Kaspersky, configure block.
  7. Retest?

Thank you🙏

Hello @tzahi

Thank you for posting back!

(Your) edit came in as/after we posted.

Ordinarily the rule will take effect when applied - however, if something does not work, either reset Kaspersky to default - after saving the original config & exit the app, shutdown the computer & start again; occasionally there can be a glitch; almost always fixed by an exit & or a reset.

We're delighted to read the issue is resolved & the block is working, well done👏🏼

Thank you🙏
