Battle.Net application and Path of Exile

Greetings,

I was having a problem similar to what Jojo Mojo described in Kaspersky blocking Steam and MS Store Apps except with Path of Exile and the Battle.Net application.  Path of Exile would get to the main login screen then produce an unexpected disconnect message when attempting to login.  Attempting to uninstall and reinstall Path of Exile produces a condition where the main data package cannot be downloaded with Kaspersky enabled.  Turning off Kaspersky allows the main data packages for Path of Exile to be downloaded.  Battle.net would allow me to login, however, did not recognize any of the games I had installed.  Attempting to install any of the games would produce a BLZBNTAGT000008FC error.  Attempting to uninstall and reinstall the Battle.net application produces results similar to attempting to uninstall and reinstall Path of Exile.  With Kaspersky uninstalled I was able to reinstall the Battle.Net application

1)      Which Windows OS version & build?

a)      Windows 10 version 22H2, build 19045.2251

2)      Have all Windows updates & patches been applied successfully?

a)      Yes, including KB5019959 released on 11/8/2022.  It has been uninstalled and reinstalled earlier today due to me thinking that was part of the problem.

3)      Has the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter been run?

a)      N/A.  Windows Store works OK on this machine.  Only problems are with Path of Exile and Battle.Net

4)      Which KIS version & patch(x), x=letter, is installed, on the Windows taskbar, or hidden icons, rightclick the Kaspersky icon, select About?

a)      21.3.10.391 (j)

5)      In the KIS Reports, are there any errors/events that match up with the dates & times that ‘0x80131500/cannot connect’ happens?

a)      No

6)      Has an uninstall of KIS, saving License information *only*  & a clean install been done?

a)      Yes.  Uninstalled Kaspersky Internet Security saving only the license info, rebooted, ran Kaspersky remover, rebooted again, and reinstalled Kaspersky Internet Security

In IE advanced settings I have TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 enabled.  Rebooted after enabling TLS 1.3.  All other versions of SSL and TLS are disabled.

Just an FYI – I am not certain why but after uninstalling and reinstalling Kaspersky Internet Security I was able to reconfigure the application (including the firewall) with settings nearly identical to what I had prior to the uninstall and both Battle.Net and Path of Exile appear to work now.  I am, at least, able to download the main data package (~30GB) for Path of Exile.  The only item that remains to be seen is if I can login to Path of Exile after the download is finished.  I will update this post with my results.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Matt Routt

Hello @MRoutt

Thus far things are looking good.  I was able to login to the Battle.Net application and it recognized all of the games I had installed.  I was even able to launch one of the games.  I can even login to Path of Exile now.  To add a little color to this I had a power outage this past Saturday.  The computer in question (a home built desktop) was on at the time the outage started.  I am wondering if that may have caused something related to Kaspersky to get corrupted, which would have been cleared up by the uninstall and reinstall.
