I would like to purchase the 5 PC license for myself and 4 others.

Does this mean that I have to Share my Kaspersky Account too or can I just give them the activation code and they could use it with their own account ?

Hello @Nigel 13d,

Welcome!

The license for 5 devices is for 1 user.

There may be some licenses available for 2 users - the product information on the Kaspersky site will show this when the license being purchased is selected.

If there’s 5 users, they would all be using your MyKaspersky account, same email address & same password → not recommended.

Thank you🙏

@Nigel 13d Sharing one license with other users is not recommended. When the rules are not correctly respected the license can get blocked for all users. Also , keep in mind that when activating the 5 PC  license on one PC the count down starts the same day for all users.

Is it mandatory to create a My Kaspersky account for the activation of Kaspersky antivirus or can we just provide the activation code and activate it without providing any email addresses ?

Hello @Nigel 13d

Welcome again!

  1. An activation code may be added locally, to the device, without syncing the device with the MyKaspersky account, however, the MyKaspersky account features available will not be available.
  2. Regarding whether or not the other 4 users create a MyKaspersky account - if you’ve created the account the license is associated with, for clarity, let’s call it primary account, the remaining users will not be able to associate the license with another MyKaspersky account - a single user, 5 device license = one MyKaspersky account per license.
  3. The 4 remaining users may wish to have MyKaspersky accounts, those accounts will not have any features associated with the license.
  4. The first device the license is installed and activated on is the primary account.
  5. The first device the license is installed and activated on is the start date of the license activation, so, if for example, a 5 device, 12 month license: 4 devices did not have the software installed for 6 months after the 1st device, the license period for the 4 devices would be 6 months, not 12 months.

Thank you🙏

@FLOOD Thank you for the answer.

  1. So, are you telling me that I could provide the 5 pc activation code to the other 4 and they would be able to activate their antivirus if they do not create a My Kaspersky Account?                                                                                                                                            Putting it in a rather straight forward manner, can they use the antivirus locally without any kind of link to the My Kaspersky account that I own, or will I be needing to link my account to their PC in some kind because the license is associated with the account that I own ?
  2. I didn’t quiet understand the final portion of your 2nd point in the answer above. Can you explain it a bit more. I mean, will all the 5 users (including me as the holder of primary account) be able to use the activated version for 2 years, with/without a My Kaspersky Account?
  3. So far, I have figured out that a My Kaspersky Account is not needed for the activation of the antivirus properly. Am I right ?

I am not concerned about the license period as they are my friends and we plan to activate the license at the same time….. So that is not an issue.

Hello @Nigel 13d,

You’re most welcome☺ !

Thank you for your messages🤗

Follow-up, hopefully, the images will assist with the queries:

Image1: KTS 3 device, 1 user license.

Image2: anyone logging into their own MyKaspersky account, with KTS installed and activated on their device, but not synchronised with a MyKaspersky account.

To answer the questions:

  • 1I could provide the 5 pc activation code to the other 4, they’d be able to activate their antivirus if they do not create a MyKaspersky account?

Yes, a MyKaspersky account isn’t necessary to activate the software &, even if they did create a MyKaspersky account, they would not be able to associate it with your license, bc, you’ve purchased a 1 user, 5 device license; I user = 1 MyKaspersky account, not 5 MyKaspersky accounts.

Kaspersky Security Cloud – Family, 20 devices, 20 user account license is available for 2+ user accounts. The Kaspersky Security Cloud – Family subscription owner can share the software with up to 19 family members; invited family members also need to create their own MyKaspersky account.

  • Can they use the antivirus locally without any kind of link to the My Kaspersky account that I own?

Yes, locally applied and activated AV is what you & they need to do & it’s never recommended to give access to your MyKaspersky account.

  • Will I be needing to link my account to their PC because the license is associated with the account that I own?

No, it’s not necessary to have or use a MyKaspersky account for the licensed software to work. Not using a MyKaspersky account doesn’t impede the use and or effectiveness of the software. Not using a MyKaspersky account simply means the features, available with a MyKaspersky account, will not be utilised, for example Remotely manage the protection of devices using the MyKaspersky account.

  • Will all 5 users (including me as the holder of primary account) be able to use the activated version for 2 years, with/without a MyKaspersky account?

Yes, absolutely.

  • 5So far, I have figured out that a MyKaspersky account is not needed for the activation of the antivirus. Am I right ?

Yes, you’re correct👌

If you’ve anymore questions, please do not hesitate to ask?

Thank you🙏
