Why do I have both a red and a green key in the menu bar-- both appear to be pinned and on.

Posted (edited)

Hello, @David Johnston

Welcome.

Key with red color is locked your KPM (Password manager). Key with green color is unlocked your KPM via your master password if you think this. If you have key with green color you can use (copy) your passwords into login and password section on websites.

Hello @David Johnston

Welcome!

?Both red & green KPM key icons showing in the Windows taskbar, hidden icons at the same time *is not normal* - KPM cannot be open and locked -> at the same time?

  1. Is this a new problem or has always existed?
  2. Check the KPM version - of both icons - on the Windows taskbar, hidden icons, rightclick KPM icon, select About
  3. Check Task manager - how many KPM processes are there?
  4. Open KPM, select Settings ⚙, select Import/Export, select Create copy, select Folder, create Backup, make sure the backup completes successfully?
  5. Exit KPM.
  6. Go back to Windows taskbar, hidden icons, rightclick the red KPM icon, select Quit.
  7. Right click the green icon, select Quit
  8. Shutdown the computer using Shutdown, not Restart, power on by pressing the power-button, make sure KPM is started but not signed into, check the Windows taskbar, hidden icons, how many KPM icons are there
  9. Sign into KPM, check the Windows taskbar, hidden icons, how many KPM icons are there & what colour are they

Please post back the outcome?
