Will never-opened, new, unused "2016 1yr, 3-device Total Security" still work -- or add time to 2024 Total Security?

 

I'm currently running Internet Security so I can't test it out until my license expires in a couple months.

Will it still work (or add 1 year more if I buy new Total Security?)
