VPN and Thunderbird

Thunderbird often hangs when the VPN is on, even in the simplest configurations.

Example:

Our IMAP server is in Moscow (ISPSERVER.com);

I set the VPN to FASTEST SERVER and it picks Moscow;

Try to send an e-mail, Thunderbird just hangs on SENDING.

Cancel send;

Turn off VPN;

Try sending from Thunderbird, a few seconds and it's done.

Windows 10 Pro

ROSTELCOM internet, but I've seen the same thing in other countries.

In some cases an ISP cannot identify his own SMTP server and is refusing outgoing traffic. Please add TB to the split Tunneling exclusions ?

That seems to have worked, but now other computers on the local private network aren't showing up when the vpn is on.  It used to work just fine.  I've added explorer.exe to the exclusions but it didn't help.

Is there some way to exclude the ENTIRE local network?  The network IS marked Private.

 An option to Bypass a LAN IP address is not available in Kaspersky VPN
