Is Your W10 fully updates via Windows Update, checking also Optional ones?

I don't have KSOS, but I've tried that site in 2 different systems with KES 12.6 and with KPremium 21.18a + Mozilla FireFox 130.0.1, and had no issues 🤔

I am not very computer savvy so I will have to call in some help (daughter) to check what  you suggest!

People are telling me that Kaspersky is banned in the US so I am wondering should I just go to another antivirus - thoughts.

I am in the US and getting the same message as the others in this forum. Although the article states KAV will no longer be for purchase in the US what happens to those of us who already have a subscription? I've tried everything I can think of to try and fix the problem but nothing has worked. I would like to speak to a customer service rep but can not find a phone number to call.

Hey Guys

There’s a lot of misunderstanding about the Kaspersky ban, especially among individuals discussing the topic in various forums. While Kaspersky has indeed been restricted in the U.S., these limitations primarily apply to federal agencies, government contractors, and certain critical infrastructure sectors—not private individuals. Here’s a breakdown to clarify:

  1. Government and Contractor Restrictions: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security banned Kaspersky software on federal systems in 2017, citing national security concerns. This ban also extended to contractors working with the government, meaning they are legally prohibited from using Kaspersky products.

  2. Private Sector Guidance, Not a Ban: While the U.S. government strongly discourages private sector use of Kaspersky, there isn’t an outright ban on private companies or individual consumers. Some industries, like finance or critical infrastructure, may avoid Kaspersky on their own accord, following federal recommendations. But this is not a legal restriction—rather, it’s a cautious response based on security advisories.

  3. State-Level and Retailer Limitations: Some state governments and retailers have restricted Kaspersky availability, which can create confusion. This limited access isn’t due to a legal ban but rather specific choices by companies or states to reduce risk or liability.

  4. Individual Use Still Legal: As of now, individual U.S. citizens are not prohibited from downloading or using Kaspersky for personal use, even though it might not be as easily available on U.S.-based platforms. This remains a personal choice, though users in regulated industries may see recommendations against it.

Hopefully, this clears up the confusion for those wondering if Kaspersky is "banned" across the board. The restrictions are focused on public sector and critical infrastructure, with private individual use remaining unaffected by direct legislation.

Thank you
