Stealth VPN connection

I recently witnessed the following which really surprised me.

A computer would connect thru VPN to work and would NOT show up in a network scan initiated by another computer on the same LAN. The network scanner is a reputable one.

 

How is the VPN connection and host computer staying stealth like than ?

Can Kaspersky VPN accomplish the same sort of stealthiness ?

If not, would Kaspersky consider having it as an option ?
