We have Kaspersky installed, but we still have a shortcut virus on our pen drive, all of the files on it have been hidden, and we are unable to recover it. Kaspersky scans the pen drive but is unable to remove the virus from the laptop or the pendrive itself. Additionally, when we use Kaspersky on the laptop, new pen drives that were virus-free before connecting to that particular laptop still get infected by the shortcut virus after connecting to it.

Ok, 1st of all, if still not done, disable AutoRun in Windows:

https://windowsloop.com/disable-autorun-in-windows-10/

Try downloading KRD 2024:

https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/free-rescue-disk

Burn it in a USB:

https://support.kaspersky.com/krd18/howto/14226

Once done, start Your system from the USB, update KRD signature bases, then go to Tools / Utilities and run Windows Unlocker, capture the results and post them here:

https://support.kaspersky.com/krd18/tools/14222

Finally, run a full scan.

Do you have KES in defaults settings?

Did you try my steps?

Also, try:

Quote

Step 1. Connect your external hard drive to your PC, right-click on Start, and select Search.

Step 2. Type Command Prompt in the search box and click Command Prompt to bring it up. Sign in with your administrator account and password if the system asks.

Step 3. Type the letter for your drive, type a colon, and press Enter. For example, if your USB drive or HDD drive's letter is H, type H: and hit Enter.

Step 4. Type del *.lnk and hit Enter.

Step 5. Type attrib -s - r -h *.* /s /d /l and hit Enter.

If that didn't work, you are likely infected by another virus. Replace .lnk with another virus extension such as *.exe to delete those suspicious files.
