I’m using Microsoft Windows 10 Version 20H2 Build 19042.1052 and Kaspersky Free 21.3.10.391. I have used Qt opensource for a quite while and didn’t recognize any particular problem. Today I was trying to add some components and before that I’d have to update Qt’s MaintenanceTool. I did so and then started downloading the components, about two hours in downloading suddenly Kaspersky advanced disinfection window popped up and after it finished the computer was restarted. I found that MaintenanceTool.exe was identified as PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic and was deleted.

Detection report:

Event: Malicious object detected
Application: MaintenanceTool.exe
User: ...
User type: Active user
Component: System Watcher
Result description: Detected
Type: Trojan
Name: PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic
Threat level: High
Object type: Process
Object path: c:\qt
Object name: maintenancetool.exe
Reason: Databases

Having in mind the Qt’s reputation, I think this could be a false positive.

Question 1: Is there any way to stop the so called disinfection process? it wasted 2 hours of my time by suddenly stopping the update process.

Question 2: Can someone in Kaspersky analyze MaintenanceTool.exe and report back how its behavior is similar to a trojan?

@Berny  Thanks.

Done.  No threats detected.

I’m using [...] and Kaspersky Free .

@Berny  There is no support for free version. Read the question, Kaspersky products’ description, or preferably both before posting.

Q1 : Yes there is a way to ignore  the detection , but trusting the potential malicious object can lead to bad consequences … maybe it is not a FP ?
