• Chrome v79.0.3945.130, despite already being installed, as of patch h, Kaspersky prompts to install Kaspersky Protection extension, v30.255.180.0, updated, 13 February 2020.

• Firefox version 73.0 (64-bit), Kaspersky prompts to install Kaspersky Protection extension

despite already previously being installed, Kaspersky Protection extension vanishes, a search of C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Total Security 20.0\FFExt\light_plugin_firefox shows addon.xpi has been “mysteriously” renamed to addon.xpi.old….

Method used to repair the mess: 

Ran SafeMode, copied addon.xpi.old (always cautious) and renamed copied file addon.xpi.

Retuned to normal mode, “re-installed” Kaspersky Protection extension
