I am trying to grant remote access to a DB on my local PC running on port 3306. I have run a port checking tool from the web that says the port is closed. I have added a port forward in the router and a packet rule in KTS at Settings>Firewall>Packet Rules (See Photo), moved the rule to the top of the stack but the port checking tool still reports 3306 closed. What am I doing wrong here?

I am running KTS 21.3.10.39(i) on  Windows 10 21H2  Build 19044.1706

Welcome to Kaspersky Community.

Did You place the new rule on top of the default rules?

Posted

Yes, as I said, I placed the new rule at the top of the stack.

Do You have any related MySQL app service / executable located in any restricted group -> Application Control / Intrusion Prevention ?

Posted

No, I looked in the application rules and it shows as allowed

Maybe You should create also a rule for PORT 3306 -> UDP

I changed the protocol to ALL and it's still is the same.

What about to specify the local IP of Your system in the rule?

Also, maybe Your router blocking?

I'm looking in the reports for the firewall, and I see no rejections, so if the port scan was reaching the firewall and being rejected, it would show in those reports, right? Maybe my ISP blocks 3306? I looked on xfinity and it did not say anything about blocking that port. How would I know?

Can You try disabling K. FireWall temporary?

Posted (edited)

Isn't the default not to stop the firewall until the computer is shut down completely? I turned it off and it kicked me off the remote login and I was not able to log back in until someone could turn the firewall back on. So I don't know if the Windows firewall activated once the KTS was disabled.

If You disable K. protection, then Windows Defender would be enabled automatically.
