I am probably going to answer my own question.

2011 Macbook Air running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6. and can not update to a later version of MacOS.  I just noticed that its version of Kaspersky is 20.0.0.829a.b.c.d.e and is the 'latest version'. When I do an update I get Last update: 27 February 2023 BUT databases released: 19 December 2022. So it is not accepting new databases.

My iMac which is 12 months old running MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 shows latest Kaspersky version 21.1.0.150a.b.c.d.e.f.g. and latest release as 27 February at 18:24 (3 hours ago).

So am I stuck with a Kaspersky database that cannot be updated because the MacBook Air MacOS cannot be updated beyond 10.13.6?
