Keyboard and Mouse Lag with Windows 10 Pro

I was running Kapersky Total Security on my new PC under Windows 10 Pro version 1903 and was getting terrible keyboard lag where I’d type several words without anything happening and then the whole text would appear on screen at the same time. In addition when scrolling using the mouse wheel the system would stop moving for several seconds before suddenly jumping to catch up wtih where it should have scrolled to.

My initial though was that it was a kown problem with my wirless keyboard and mouse but swapping to wired devices had no effect and I could not identify any links to the software I was running at the time, other than Kapersky which was always running. I then disabled Kapersky and reverted to Windows Defendet and the problem was totally cured, at the cost of reducing my systems security.

Anyone got any ideas for a cure? Kapersky is still running fine on my two older PCs and a couple of Android devices so I really do not want to give it up but it is unusable on my new PC.

Welcome. There are two possible courses of action. One is to post your GetSystemInfo report here, so forum users can help, or the other is to Contact Tech Support.

1. Please post your GetSystemInfo report link, instructions: https://support.kaspersky.com/common/diagnostics/3632
Please upload the GetSystemInfo zip folder that is inside the larger GSI zip to the GSI parser site http://www.getsysteminfo.com/ and post the url to the parsed report here, in your next post.

2. Or, please contact Tech Support: https://my.kaspersky.com/support/

Please attach the following items to your Tech Support request:

a. Description of the issue.
b. Screenshot, as needed.
c. GSI

Hello @MikeJHall,

As well as the advice from @richbuff🙇

MS have acknowledged 🐁 issues with 1903 major release and 1909 patch release. I’m not sure about  ⌨ issues, however, for both issues, please check all MS advisories and solutions.

And, if posting back here, or to TS, please make and include a  video of the  ⌨  lag & 🐁 jumping.

CamStudio is good & easy to use. Region Full Screen, is the setting rqeuired.

Thank you.

Thank you for your responses. For the time being I have gone with richbuff’s option 2 and referred the problem to support, though I’ve not provided a GSI as I assume that I would need to reinstall Kapersky before doing so and I’m currently trying to catch up on the work I missed doing due to this problem. I am kind of hoping that this may be a know Windows problem with somr kind of known work around though I suspect that it’s not.

As for FLOOD’s suggestion I am trying to check on Microsoft’s advisories but need to refine my google search as there seem to be an inordinate number of references to keyboard and mouse lag on the web.

  • 10 months later...

I have K Total Solution. I’ve had keyboard lag on Youtube, Youtube music and, today, Facebook search.

Three days ago I got in touch with Kaspersky, who made me jump through some geek hoops, then responded:

“We have received an update from our experts that the issue is caused by a bug in the Kaspersky program. A fix has been planned for release in early November through the automatic update process. The issue can be worked around by temporarily using the older 2020 version. If you wish to make use of the workaround, you may first uninstall the existing installation and download the 2020 version installer from the link below to install:

...mod edit: to get a link for 2020 version, please contact technical support.

After the download completes, the installer file “kts20.0.14.1085_en_full.exe” is saved on the computer. You may double-click it to launch the installation wizard.

Hope it works for all of you.
