Kaspersky unlimited VPN no longer working correctly.

It did work, I could even stream two videos at once on 2 monitors.

Now I can't even get a gif to run on one.

If I turn VPN off, it works just fine again, so no matter which server I use, it now crawls and stops at 5 seconds

Any ideas please?

Can You provide the versions of KVPN installed?

It sounds like your Kaspersky VPN's performance has degraded significantly. Here are steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Network Speed with VPN On and Off

  • Run a speed test with the VPN off and then with it on (using different servers).
  • Compare the results to confirm if the VPN is throttling your bandwidth.

2. Update Kaspersky VPN

  • Ensure your Kaspersky VPN software is up to date. Older versions might not perform well, especially after system updates.

3. Check for Server Issues

  • Test multiple servers, including nearby and distant ones. Some servers may be overloaded or experiencing downtime.

4. Reset VPN Settings

  • Reset Kaspersky VPN settings to default. Go to Settings > Reset Settings and then configure it again.

5. Exclude VPN from Split Tunneling

  • If split tunneling is enabled, temporarily disable it and test. Alternatively, ensure your browser or streaming apps are not excluded from VPN protection.

6. Reinstall Kaspersky VPN

  • Uninstall the VPN, restart your computer, and reinstall it. This can resolve corruption or misconfigurations.

7. Check Internet Connection and Router Settings

  • Confirm that your baseline internet connection is stable. Restart your router and check if your ISP is throttling VPN traffic.
  • Try connecting your computer directly to the router via Ethernet.

8. Adjust Protocol Settings

  • In Kaspersky VPN settings, switch between protocols (e.g., OpenVPN, IKEv2). Some protocols may perform better depending on your network.

9. Firewall/Antivirus Conflicts

  • Ensure no third-party firewall or antivirus is interfering with VPN traffic. Temporarily disable them and test.

10. Logs and Support

  • Generate Kaspersky VPN logs and check for errors:
    • Go to Support > Technical Support in the app.
    • Collect logs and analyze for repeated failures or errors.
  • Contact Kaspersky Support with detailed logs if the issue persists.

11. Check System Resources

  • Verify that no background processes are consuming excessive bandwidth or resources. Open Task Manager and check Network usage.

Additional Tips:

  • Ensure Windows Power Options are set to "High Performance."
  • Temporarily disable Windows Auto-Tuning (open Command Prompt as admin and run netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled).

Let me know if any of these steps help or if you need more detailed guidance!

It seems it was throttled traffic by Ksec as support calls it, K VPN as I call it.

I did have to adjust a number of things and mostly by trial and error, but solutions are now working that did nothing a month ago. Hence I think K VPN was throttling the traffic, speed measurements while using it were awful, they never used to be.

The system is running as Win 10 did now, finally, only took a month.

No wonder people don't want to upgrade
