Evidently when Kaspersky was going to load Ultra AV, they partially messed Total Security and didn't install Ultra AV.  So Total Security is running but not updating.  Worse is it doesn't show up as an installed program, so deletion seems impossible.  I tried the Kaspersky Kavremover and wasn't given the option to uninstall Total Security.  I'm hoping there's a repair or a way to reinstall so it shows up in uninstall programs so I can properly delete it. I've tried 3rd party uninstallers but the program doesn't show up there.

Welcome to Kaspersky Community.

As You know, K. product won't update even if You finally recover KTS installation, unless... You use a VPN, some user in US are reporting They continued using K. via a VPN with a server outside US and getting updates. I haven't tried it, of course, I don't live in US, but maybe You can try to install again a K. product with a VPN but a version from a different country region, maybe the global versions in English or the UK version.

My suggestion to avoid even a worse mess up in Your system: uninstall completely UltraAV and KTS, and then decide what security product You want to install.

The Kaspersky uninstall tool doesn't recognize total security.  Ultra AV hasn't been installed, but would be deleted.  I think Kaspersky is the one that wrecked the install.  Now I'm stuck.  They won't answer a contact I made with customer service.

Are avp.exe services still running?

If KAVREMOVER can't detect KTS that's bad 🤔 system is messed up... if I were You, I would create a full backup of the system (Macrium, Hasleo, etc.), then I would boot the system with a Linux or other system in a USB, then I would remove all Kaspersky installation folders in C:\Program FIles (x86) and in C:\ProgramData.

After that, I would boot the system normally and check if it still boots, if so, then I would install this tool:

https://www.resplendence.com/download/RegistrarHomeV9.exe

Then I would perform this search of registry keys:

Then click in Search button, below on the left, once ended, select all found registry keys, and Delete them with the delete button, also below (red X).

And finally, clear temps files in C:\Windows\Temp and C:\Users\<Your account>\AppData\Local\Temp

This is a VERY RADICAL "UNINSTALL" WORKAROUND SOLUTION, it may work or not...
