Select "License information" only
  1. Allow the uninstall process to complete
  2. Reboot
  3. Re-install Kaspersky software
  4. Turn on Wifi
  5. Reboot
*** Check if the original issue persists? If it does, please post back with the following please: Version of KTS? Windows product & version? Are there any alerts? How does Kaspersky advise the wifi is broadcasting as "public"? A screen print please? ---------------------------- Another useful doc reference is: https://support.kaspersky.com/kts19/tasks Thanks!

Reinstalling worked for the admin account but not the guest account on the Windows 7 computer or the one on Windows 10 and Android 7.1.1. The Windows computers network status setting was on trusted network already.

Hello Corine, Thanks for posting back. Ok, so you have a network (internal?) with Win 10, Win7, Android devices, KTS & KSC, unistalling KTS & re-installing has stopped the alerts for the Admin account but not the Guest account, on Win 7? And on Win10 & Android, the alerts are still happening - is that a correct summary please?
  1. What happens when you select "Enable protection", & "Remember my choice for this Wifi network"?
  2. Has the uninstall/reinstall procedure been done on every device?
  3. Is Network discovery "ON", on both Win7 & Win10 devices?
  4. And, in Windows: is “Make this PC discoverable"off" or "on" please?
Please let us know? Thanks.

Hi Corine, From the 5 images,
  1. Which are specifically from the Win7 device?
  2. Is the VPN only on the Android?
  3. Do the alerts happen with NO VPN?
  4. What happens when you select "Enable protection", & "Remember my choice for this Wifi network"?
  5. Has the uninstall/reinstall procedure been done on every device?
  6. Is Network discovery "ON", on both Win7 & Win10 devices?
  7. In Win & & 10: is “Make this PC discoverable"off" or "on"?
Please let us know? Thanks.

Kaspersky has started to think that my WiFi is public when it isn't. My WiFi has a password and a custom ssid.
Hi, please submit a ticket to technical support via https://my.kaspersky.com. Include traces in your request: https://support.kaspersky.com/14009
  1. enable traces
  2. restart PC
  3. get the public wi-fi notification
  4. stop traces
Also attach a GSI report to your request to support. https://support.kaspersky.com/common/diagnostics/3632 Send me the incident number via private message.

All of the pictures are the same for all the computers. I have reinstalled on every device. If i chose Remember my choice for this WiFi network Kaspersky Secure Connection will remember that, but I need to find the reason it comes up so I can stupid proof it for my parents. Temporally changing the ssid to Vo/Ze0LlraEgZQYt}+xk5u(Kh made Kaspersky not think it was public. Did sombody really put up public WiFi with Discord is the best pony_optout recently? Is their a way for me to check? Unchecking "Networks with common names" in "Treat the following WI-Fi networks as insecure" setting in Kaspersky Secure Connection dosen't stop the message.

Hello Corine, Welcome back! "stupid proof" for parents:rofl:, sadly, I don't think we have a solution otherwise we'd all use it! Did you communicate with Igor/Kaspersky Tech Support/create/upload a GSI please? GSI would be most helpful. Also, please tell us/provide screen prints for KSC all settings? Please let us know? Thanks!

  • 6 months later...

Same problem here on all KIS 20 installations connected to private wifi.  Kaspersky knows the network is private and secured as per Network Properties.  Yet the message says it is public.  This started happening when I installed KIS 20 on my devices, never saw it before.

Hello  @JGAta2,

Welcome!

Would you be kind enough to follow the instructions provide by  @Igor Kurzin, please:

Submit a ticket to Kaspersky Technical Support, please include traces in your request:

Please follow: How to collect traces

  1. Via Kaspersky application, enable Traces
  2. Restart the PC, using Shutdown (not Restart), when PC is OFF, power ON, login
  3. Wait for / get the public wi-fi notification
  4. Stop Traces
  5. Locate and prepare the Traces
  6. Please also run a GSI & Windows Logs
  7. If you have images of the issue, please include those?

When you’ve submitted the request an automated email with an INC# will be sent to you, please post the INC# here in your post or PM the INC# to  @Igor Kurzin please?

Note: Traces files can be large, it’s important to stop the traces as soon as the problem is captured, otherwise, you end up with “really big” traces🤐

If you need any help, please let us know?

Thank you
