I’ve just installed Kaspersky Security Cloud free. I signed into my account and activated the product and also did a system scan. But still when I check the security settings it’s shown that Kaspersky is turned off and defender is running.  I can’t turn on Kaspersky protection in the settings.  Someone please provide a solution.

@gmstein Welcome. Please  run Services.msc and disable WD in the services and at start up > reboot.

Can you please tell me how ? I can’t see any option on the security settings.

Running services as admin doesn’t make difference.

@gmstein  Your Log is showing KSCloud Free as installed , processes and drivers running.

Referring to your opening post can you please try again :
Start > Search for Windows Security > Click on Virus & threat protection
Step 1)  Windows Defender : Disable
Step 2) Kaspersky Security Cloud : Enable

Also , can you please check the services with Windows Systinternals
and try to uncheck  Windows Defender

Next suggestion :
> Uninstall KSCloud Free
> ? Disable WD ?
> Reinstall KSCloud

There is no option to disable WD. I can only turn off real time protection. It’s not a permanent soln since restarting enables real time protection again.

@gmstein  Please download Download Sysinternals Suite (29.4 MB)

> Rightclick “Auroruns.exe”
> Open
> Filter “Defender”

@gmstein  Please uncheck the first item (WD)  and + and the 2 items below > reboot.

@gmstein, show a screenshot of the tab: Settings → Update & Security → Windows security →  Virus & threat protection

@gmstein There are also procedures to disable WD in the Registry that I don’t like share on this Forum because these kind of manipulations are sometimes risky. Please search on the WEB and PM me before trying.
