Hello @Nuke,

Welcome!

  1. Using Windows explorer, go to C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP20.0\Temp\tempio → take images of both PR*.tmp files properties → General tab & Details tab & post back?
  2. KTS version & patch?
  3. Windows version & build?
  4. How long has KTS been installed?

Please post back?

Thank you🙏

Kaspersky > Settings (cog wheel, bottom left) > Protection > disable Anti-Spam (this may not be the cause, just a test)

" > " > Additional > Self-Defense > disable Self-Defence

" > " > " > Reports and Quarantine settings > Clear

Windows notification tray > right-click Kaspersky icon > Exit

Go to C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP20.0\Temp and delete the contents of the antispam and tempio folders (you may be asked to allow access, click yes/ok), then delete them from the Recycle Bin

Start Kaspersky again. Re-enable Self-Defense. See if the issue continues.

The instructions seem very clear and I think I followed the instructions and removed a .7 Tbyte file from …/tempio. The contents of the antispam were smaller.

The problem started on the next step. When I attempt to restart Kaspersky Total Security it never gets past the start up screen where it says “Application Is Loading”.  This has been going on for several hours.

  • The startup splash screen says protection is enabled.
  • When I hoover over the Windows notification tray it displays the latest signature file.
  • I restarted the computer after about an hour and the splash screen continues when logged into a different account.
  • Task Manager shows very little activity but all are mostly 0% with a minor flash of activity.
  1.      kpm_tray.exe  0-1%
  2.      avp.exe  0-2%
  3.      avpui.exe 0%
  • System is Windows 7 Home (running Windows Media Center).

Since I never get to the main screen so I can’t re-enable Self-Defense or Anti-Spam.

Short of reinstalling Kaspersky I don’t know what to do. An ideas

Registry Editor > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\KasperskyLab\AVP21.1\settings (or \AVP20.0\ if you’re using that version) > change EnableSelfProtection to a value of 1 > restart your computer

I can’t say I’m hopeful for that fixing the issue, but it’s worth a shot. If not, then unfortunately I’d suggest reinstalling (or updating to KTS 21 if you haven’t already).

Hello @FWilson

Welcome!

  • A registry hack for this issue is not recommended, nor wise.
  1. Please uninstall & clean install KTS, selecting Save license information ONLY, follow all documentation carefully.
  2. If the issue persists, please post back with full details, including images

Thank you🙏

ilike2burnthing: That is the key I was looking for. I was searching for a keyword that included “defense”.After I turned on Self-Defense via the registry and restarted my computer it can right up.

It also appears that      I did no follow the instructions as close as I thought. When I went in to reset everything Anti-Virus was set to OFF and Anti-Spam was ON so I guess I inadvertently clicked the wrong thing.

 All is now good.

                                                Thank You for the help.

Hello,

These files are generated by the file scanning engine unpacking or decompressing the files to be scanned. As long as the Kaspersky product is started, these files will be created. The reason why such a large file is generated may be related to the Full Scan you have performed. Normally, these files will be deleted when the product exits or the computer restarts, but it may not be able to do so due to some special reasons. You can turn off Kaspersky’s self-protection and exit the Kaspersky product to delete these files. The file will be created automatically after starting the Kaspersky product.

Regards.

For me Tempio is empty, but I still get error message on EVERY start up.

Can’t even delete it when kaspersky doesn’t run, requires SYSTEM privs not admin.

There is no log file generated in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Security Cloud 20.0

I always choose to report issue button.

So annoying.
