Kaspersky Internet Security Blocking Wget SSL (GnuWin32)

I got an SSL handshake error when trying to run the following wget command (GnuWin32):

wget --no-check-certificate https://example.com

Terminal output:

SYSTEM_WGETRC = c:/progra~1/wget/etc/wgetrc
syswgetrc = C:\Program Files (x86)\GnuWin32/etc/wgetrc
Resolving ...
Connecting to ... connected.
OpenSSL: error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure
Unable to establish SSL connection.

I have tried adding the program into exclusions, but I still wasn’t able to solve the SSL handshake error. Even pausing my Kaspesky Internet Securty didn’t solve the error.

Can anyone help with my issue? Thanks.

Hello @MatthewI

Welcome back!

  1. Please Read before you create a new topic!
  2. IF KIS is paused, why/how is the problem caused by KIS?
  3. In KIS Reports, are there any errors that match the issue?
  4. Which wget version is being used?
  5. Log a case with Kaspersky Technical Support, fill in Application malfunctionOther template; support may request logs, traces & other data, they will guide you:

  6. After submitting the case, you’ll receive an automated email with an INC+12digits reference number, then, normally, within 5 business days, a Kaspersky Technical Support human will be in touch, also by email, you may continue to engage with the Kaspersky Technical Team via email or by updating the INC in their MyKaspersky account.

➡ Please share the outcome with the Community when it’s available?

Thank you🙏

Hello,

SSL v3 is not security protocol. Now using TLS 1.2 or higher instead. Do you enable SSL 3.0 support in windows internet settings?

I check the command with TLS enabled. No problem has been found.

Regards.
