Hello! I just inserted an old usb into my laptop and Kaspersky analyzed it and detected a worm called “dinihou”. It also says that it was deleted. Should I do something else? I am currently doing a full scan.

Hello @Clapclap,

Welcome!

  1. Is the full scan also scanning the usb?
  • From the information you’ve provided it appears as though Kaspersky Security Cloud has managed the issue, however, check Quarantine, if the detected object is shown, delete it.
  • Allow the full scan to complete, if there are any further detections please post the Kaspersky Security Cloud Detailed Report, export the report & attach📎 to your reply please?

Thank you🙏

Hi!

i formatted the usb and scanned it. It showed nothing. Then I disconnected it and started a full pc scan. It hasn’t detected anything, yet.

Sorry, I am also really scared by the safety of my network. My mother thankfully also has kaspersky but her windows is not up to date. Could the worm have spread to her computer?

Hello @Clapclap,

Don’t apologize, it’s understandable being worried when something is found, however, on your computer, we’re confident, based on the information you’ve shared with us, that Kaspersky Security Cloud has managed the issue.

Regarding your Mother’s computer:

  1. Was the usb ever used on that device?
  2. Has a Full scan been run?

Please let us know?

Thank you🙏

No, only to my notebook. I didn’t run any tests but I am going to start one now.

Also, thank you for your help and for your very kind words. I will keep you updated with the results.

Ok, so full scan on my pc has finished and it showed no further detections! I will post again after I finish the test on my mother’s computer. I also clicked “delete” on the file that was on quarantine.

Hi! @FLOOD

Full scan on both my mother’s computer and mine showed no results. Can I be at ease now?

Thank you!

Hello @Clapclap,

Well done, good work again👏

Thank you for updating us🙏

You mentioned for your Mother’s device “ Windows is not up to date”, our recommendation is, to install the latest updates; ensuring, prior to doing so, always create a System restore point.

Best regards,
