Excellent text bob77... I've been using Kaspersky since it was just called KAV, in 2000... it's been 25 years... I personally use the Kaspersky Small Office version, but I recommended Free to my clients because I'm in Brazil, here the economic situation is complicated and many always run to free solutions and end up going for popular but terrible antivirus... I completely agree with you that the conversion rate could be much higher and, personally, I don't stop believing in them, but for me I'm still undecided whether or not to recommend their domestic solution based on the premise that they abandoned the product without giving satisfaction... What happened in the USA may be regrettable and is very questionable, but we are talking about people from all over the world, which is not the USA. Anyway, the only way to wait is to wait.I was looking for information and I'm following it here. I registered just to say that I was also worried about the situation... I didn't want it to be discontinued, but I thought it was disrespectful not to have any information.

But the question is will the subscription automatically renew or not?

Of course, I can't answer to that now, we'll see in the upcoming months...

Yanks are weird.. look at the state they are in the last few years..

but it's very annoying that Kaspersky did the roll-out of the notification.. then it stopped.. then the website issue.. and still no press statement and I can't see much press even looking into it.. not that tech press is anything but a giant advert since.. well.. the 90s really.

End of the day, the Kaspersky lab gets tons of high scores all the time for anti-virial and malware detection levels. Though personally, I do think Government systems should be better secured then having to just use a AV... tech world has gone down hill.. hell, even closed systems seam to use public internet connections.. which defeats the point of a closed system ¬_¬ (being English, This is more a reference to some major UK 'leaks/hacks' over the past few years)

  1. No more Kaspersky free?

Hello @vatnik

Welcome!

  1. Correct - from Kaspersky staff, quote: "Free is being slowly phased out (removed). They're not going to provide the free version anymore." end-quote
  2. For the time being - as at 18th July, 2025, Kaspersky Free is available in these places: image.thumb.png.4684e65b4184fef2b24b197b180d0b72.png

Thank you🙏

I've used Kaspersky Free for years, it's always been my go to antivirus, it saved me on multiple occasions and I've recommended it to everyone I know, even after the whole debacle with the US banning it. With that said this couldn't have been handled any worse. Abruptly ending the Free subscription after this long, and not even warning your users through the application is an incredibly bone headed move, I didn't even know about it until yesterday, when someone mentioned on Reddit that the Free version was closing. My Free subscription was supposed to renew in about 80 days, now I find out it's actually ending for good. I really wish there was more support for people who've had a Free Kaspersky subscription for years than "Try our 30 day trial!". It was a good run, I appreciate the wonderful service and protection Kaspersky provided, but if this is how you guys abandon and disregard a large portion of your users, then I guess it's time to make the switch to one of your competitors.

The only way now to use Kaspersky for free is to use the beta version (Standard or Premium) but it may have bugs.

You mustn't log in to activate the trial beta and it auto renews on every new version.

I will continue to use the Free version as i have 276 days left but i'm not sure what I'll do after that. Maybe i will install the beta or i will go to the next best free antivirus.
