Hello Bootlegger, Welcome! Would you be kind enough please to provide more detail/clarity re:
  1. KTS - "system change control"
  2. "tired of having my default progams changed"?
Also, may we have: KTS version? Operating system, version, release? Thank you!

"system change control" was available in other versions of Kaspersky under security to keep programs from changing the default programs you have set. On example is changing the pdf default from Adobe Reader to the useless Chrome. KTS build 19.0.0.1088 running Windows 10

Hello Bootlegger, (according to advice from Kaspersky) Kaspersky have "replaced" System Changes Control - https://help.kaspersky.com/KTS/2018/en-US/95486.htm with Application Manager/Installation Assistant. https://help.kaspersky.com/KTS/2019/en-US/95482.htm. Kaspersky acknowledge "some functions are no longer available". The issue has been escalated to Kaspersky experts to advise "why"? We'll update you/this post as soon as we receive the advice. Thanks!

Hello Bootlegger, The answer from Kaspersky: quote: We are sorry to inform that the System Changes Control feature which tracks changes in operation system is no longer available in 2019. Our product managers decided to remove the feature because it is resource hungry and does not appear to be useful according our statistics. unquote ?

disappointing, I have a constant problem with Microsoft changing back to their preferences. Maybe when my subscription is over I'll be able to find something that will do this.
