Is Kaspersky Free discontinued in Romania? The application is not available in your region.

About a month and a half ago, there used to be an option on the Romanian Kaspersky website to download the Free antivirus, in the “Free Tools” category. The link for it was kaspersky.ro/free-antivirus

In March, I noticed that the “Free Tools” category no longer has Kaspersky Free. instead it has an green gif showing like it is loading:

However, when I tried to enter directly using the link for the free antivirus mentioned at the beginning, it still showed me an blank screen with this gif showing that the page is loading.

Now the kaspersky.ro/free-antivirus no longer works, because it’s gonna redirect you to kaspersky.ro.

 

I asked them on Facebook and Twitter ad they said that they’ll take a look, but they didn’t tell me what happened.

 

The Free version is available in other countries too, but what happened here? It just got discontinued or what?

 

I ask this because Security Cloud Free doesn’t exist in Romania yet, and still, if I download it, it’s gonna tell me that it’s not available yet in my region:

  • We’ve logged a request with the support team who manages the website; when they update us, we’ll update you. 
  • However, while we’re waiting, may we know please:
  1. Did the Facebook and Twitter folk say they would get back to you & then didn’t or did they not know? 
  2. Are you able to use Kaspersky Security Cloud Free, from the Kaspersky Global www, it has no regional limitations.

Please let us know? 

  • We’re able to replicate the Free tools “loading” issue

  1. I contacted them on Facebook and they said that they'll take a look and will send me updates when they find something.

    I also found an recording I sended to them when I discovered the problem, I uploaded it here:https://streamable.com/3tbwrv                                                   On Twitter they said that it's an bug that they'll fix it, but I didn't receive any update since then.

    1. I'll send a pic a bit later, I don't have the PC right now with me.
    2. From that website I downloaded KSCF(https://www.kaspersky.com/free-cloud-antivirus) and I still get that error.
    3. Any suggestion or feedback is highly appreciated by you! ^^

  • Ok, so from the Twitter response, if they’ve acknowledged it as a bug, it will be fixed, they may not let  you know when that will be & some of Kaspersky’s “fixes” may take a long time; but, now, they have your logging of the issue with them & a formally created incident, so that’s good👌
  • Thank you, but now no need to worry about the screen print, we were able to replicate the issue, we posted the video in our last reply. 
  • It’s disappointing KSCF from Global also generates an error😥; you’ll have to please patiently wait. 
  • Is there any anti-virus installed on your computer atm?

I also want to mention that their free AV is also on this link: kaspersky.ro/free-products

Clicking on it redirects to kaspersky.ro/free-antivirus, which again, redirects to kaspersky.ro since a month.

I don't have any other AV's installed, when I saw that I can't download any of the free AV's, I installed an trial of Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

Good, as long as there’s AV installed, we’re happy😅

The trial is 30 days, hopefully, Kaspersky will sort out the issue in that time; however, if it get’s close to 30 days & the issue persists, can you please post an update in your topic, for us, as a reminder please?

This issue is since mid-March, so it’s about one month and a half.

Do you mean “it’s about one month and a half”, since the issue has been with Kaspersky via your contact, or, you installed Kaspersky Trial, mid March?

The issue with the website, and the Free antivirus page is since mid-March ^^

 

In the end of March, in 26th of March I contacted them on Facebook and at the beginning of April on Twitter.

I actually found a way to come back to Kaspersky Free, I entered into the “Licensing” section and there was a button to downgrade for Kaspersky Free ^^

They haven’t answered whether they’re going to fix the page yet; going on the track record, that’ll take another 5 or more emails☹
