I’d like to replace Kapsersy VPN’s usage of Google’s DNS with Cloudflare’s DNS.

Is it possible? How?

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

Thanks.

Yes. Possible?

Yes, switch to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1.

How? Where in the setting? in VPN software? In Windows Network & Sharing Center? in VPN connection properties in active network?

Hello @uturnin900miles,

in addition to @Bernys post:

You can set DNS resolver in windows adapter settings of 'Kaspersky Security Data Escort Adapter' for IPv4 and IPv6.
But unfortunately this does not persist. With every new connection via KSeC Google DNS will be configured again.
Unfortunately I have not found a way to prevent this.
Please contact the technical support.

Thank you Schulte.

I tried your suggestion. It indeed doesn’t persist.

Seems a programming solution is possible using powershell’s Get/Set -NetAdapter, alas not in Windows 7.

@uturnin900miles Could I ask you to elaborate why you need to setup Cloudflare’s DNS with Kaspersky VPN?

Thanks a lot.

I’d like to circumvent hitting Google’s DNS.

@uturnin900miles yes, I’ve got, but what is the reason? Legal issues? Performance? Privacy concerns?

Both of DNS servers show almost same speeds in my case, both support DoH.

Privacy concerns are mitigated by fact that my DNS requests are mixed with DNS request from other users at the same VPN server.

Do I miss the key point?

Privacy concerns.

You did not miss the point, and you explained how it is not a concern since requests are mixed.

You addressed my question. Thank you.
